According to infographics and articles released in the past days from various publications, the University of North Alabama came in 4th of 10 for most underage drinking arrests by university. Give yourself a pat on the back, UNA Lions, and give yourself a bit of insight as to why 24 students were arrested over spring break.

1. Being away from Leo and Una gives UNA students separation anxiety.

It's true! Being so far from the beloved, mighty lions makes a student anxious. It's no surprise that a few Lions cracked open a few bottles to deal with the crippling separation anxiety of being unable to hear their fierce, voluminous roars from hundreds of miles away at the beach.

2. The pride must assert dominance over its competition.

With renowned southern universities like Ole Miss and Texas A&M on the list, UNA students had to assert their dominance by asserting that they, too, know how to let loose and get lit.

3. Finals are right around the corner.

The dreaded season of coffee and crying creeps closer with every passing day. No one is surprised that a few students decided to indulge in something stronger than coffee to cope with the pain of impending sleeplessness, misery, and stress.

4. They thought they could fly under the radar.

"Where is the University of North Alabama?" "Never heard of it." "I think you meant the University of Alabama , sweetheart. Alabama ain't north. That's where Yankees live." Since UNA is a campus that apparently exists in the uncanny valley, or is perhaps a 'paper university' like infamous paper towns, is it so surprising that the students thought they could be sneaky?

5. UNA students go big or go home.

There were some students that couldn't make it to the coast for a beautiful beach vacation this time around. Of course the selfless, compassionate Lions raised a raised a few extra glasses or raised a little bit of extra hell for their beloved classmates that couldn't make it. Truly inspiring.

6. They were rewarding themselves for being one of the raddest universities in the state.

On almost any article you read listing the most prestigious and admirable universities in Alabama, you'll be sure to find the state's oldest four-year academic powerhouse. It's a top-tier public university. The students are just as rad, and they figured they deserved to show off a little bit.

7. They missed home.

Isn't a holding cell the closest thing to a dorm room at any university? The small, dim cells made them think of their time spent in the ancient Rice and Rivers residence halls.

8. Because life is more fun when you have stories to tell.

Ask any member of the pride, and they'll tell you the same. Life is more fun when it isn't dull. Every student returning to classes with bloodshot eyes or a criminal record will be revered as a legend. There is nothing more satisfying than asserting dominance over your peers.

9. They never know when to quit.

The tenacity of students at UNA is obvious. They're determined, ambitious, focused, and if they want that tenth shot, they'll very well have it. UNA students never back down from a challenge. It's what makes them both great students and great entertainment.

10. They know not to take themselves too seriously.

Any situation is improved by finding the humor in it. UNA Lions know that they're not above laughing at themselves, and it's one of their best qualities. No matter what happened over spring break, admirable or not, the students return and brush themselves off with a magificent story to tell their peers.

Friendship. It's defined as the state of being attached to another person by feelings of affection or personal regard, but what really is friendship? Is it that occasional hallway talk with that one person who always manages to cheer you up? Is it that relationship you have with someone where they can be gone for a long period of time, but when they come back, it's like they never left? Is it spending every waking hour with someone, and knowing every detail about their life? Is it the relationship that's filled with fighting, but filled with even more resolution? I've learned that it's all of these things, and every friendship is different. It's a beautifully dysfunctional mess that should always be cherished and never be taken for granted.

I've known you your entire life. More than likely I held you in the first three days of it and at least one of us cried. Cousins are truly one of the best things in the world and while sometimes I complain about how many people crowd Grandma's living room on Christmas Eve, I wouldn't trade you all anything.

You are my best friends, the only people who can understand what it's like on Thanksgiving, and you are the spunkiest people I have ever met. But you as so so young, most of you are just now starting your adventures in the public education system. I mean, I'm so very young too. I'm not married, I don't have children, heck, I just started my adult life, but I do want to give you what little advice I have. My dears, these are the things I want you to know.
