10 Reasons to Work at a Summer Camp
Jillian Fournier

If you've had the pleasure of seeing The Parent Trap when you were a kid, you've probably always dreamed of going to summer camp some day. Between the pranks, food, activities and late night adventures that the main characters had, you might've had your bags packed before the movie was even over. Well, even if The Parent Trap didn't have you convinced, maybe this list will.

1. You have so many crazy adventures.

Between late shenanigans, hiking through the forest, and braving the high ropes course, you get to do so many things that other people just don't get to do.

2. You become lifelong friends with the staff.

"My friend from Wales" will be a regular sentence that you'll find yourself saying. You'll have so many Snapchat friends, it'll be insane! The face time and Skype calls you'll be making at odd hours to talk to your friend across 5 time zones will be the highlight of your weeks.

3. The campers look up to you.

You won't believe it until you see it, but those campers will adore you. You'll make them happy, and they'll make you laugh. It's a win-win!

4. You get free food AND free lodging!

You don't have to pay to eat because the camp will feed you! You don't have to pay for lodging because you'll be staying with your campers! Living in a beautiful forest rent free? Sounds like a sweet deal to me!

5. You get paid for having fun.

It's better than working a minimum wage job at a fast food restaurant, and it's certainly better than working retail.

6. You get to work at a job where you know you're making an immediate impact.

You'll see the difference you're making happen right off the bat. You'll watch girls grow and develop within a week and you won't believe how much of a difference you made in such a short amount of time.

7. You get in shape.

Walking everywhere, hiking like crazy, biking, climbing, swimming every day... You'll lose weight and you'll have the beginning of some killer calves.

8. You'll actually get to save your money.

You won't have anywhere to spend your money because there won't be anywhere to spend it! You'll be in a secluded camp away from anywhere to spend your last paycheck.

9. You'll always have a song to sing.

Those camp songs may get stuck in your head, but the special slow songs that you'll be singing at closing campfire will bring you comfort long after you say goodbye.

10. You will never forget your time at camp.

You'll look back on your camp memories and smile, and cry, and laugh. You'll never say you were bored.

"And come September, I will remember, our camping days and friendships true."

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
