As you sadly pack away your bathing suits and sunscreen, look forward to these 10 fall favorites:

1. The weather

No more sweating on the walk to class! Yes, we will all miss the beautiful beach breeze, but the crisp air of autumn is truly refreshing and unlike anything else.

2. The leaves changing

Walking around campus surrounded by the beautiful color of fall leaves creates an ambiance of tranquility. From bright orange to deep red, the changing colors of the leaves just adds to the overall beauty of autumn.

3. Apple picking

Is fall even a season without apple picking? This tradition is one you can’t miss. Gathering up a group of friends and family and heading to a local orchard is an activity that creates everlasting memories. Plus, the perfect location for a photo shoot is in the middle of a pumpkin patch.

4. The food

Even the smell of Carmel apples gets me in the perfect mood for fall. Baking delicious homemade apple pie will make your house smell like heaven, and eating it will send you there. Everything Pumpkin flavored from Iced Coffees to bread will knock you off your feet. And don’t worry, there’s plenty to go around.

5. Pumpkin carving

Growing up, pumpkin carving was a tradition my family never missed. Whether it’s a silly face or something you’d see in your nightmares, the art of carving a pumpkin is the perfect family bonding experience.

6. Football season

As soon as fall takes off, so does football season. Whether you’re a Giants or Eagles fan, football season is definitely something to look forward to. So go get your season tickets now! You don’t want to miss out on this exciting time.

7. Boot & sweater weather

Fall fashion is definitely something to look forward to. Grab all your fashionable vests, comfy sweaters, and cute boots because autumn is on its way!

8. Baking time

The perfect time to bake some pumpkin pie and other fall treats with your friends and family is autumn. Get out the recipes and go crazy, leftovers are what fall is all about.

9. Halloween

Halloween is a holiday unlike any other. From football players to police officers, costumes make it one of the best days of the year. And the best part? Candy.

10. Cozy nights by the fireplace

Spending time cuddling, watching a movie, and snuggling by the fireplace creates nights you’ll always treasure. Fall is a time to relax and enjoy the beauty of autumn, so make sure you take advantage of it as much as you can.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.
