No matter how much people say they hate the holiday season, whether it is because of the cold weather coming towards you or the thought of buying gifts or the idea of having to spend time with family members you may not particularly like. Even with all of those reasons, whenever someone hears that the holidays are rapidly approaching, everyone suddenly becomes cheerful and happy. Here are ten reasons why everyone loves the holiday season!

1. For you students out there...

This means an entire month of not having to do a single assignment or worry about anything school related.

2. The cold weather is finally here!

No one likes sitting in hot, sticky, humid weather in the spring and summer months. The holiday season means constant cold weather from at least November to early March.

3. FOOD!

While Thanksgiving may be the holiday where it is okay to eat enormous amounts of food, think about this: during the holidays you may have to visit multiple family houses to exchange gifts and what not. That means a meal for every house you visit.

4. Holiday/Christmas Songs.

As annoying as it is to hear Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" hundreds of times on the radio, listening and singing along to holiday music can definitely put anyone in the mood for holiday fun and cheer.

5. For those of you who celebrate Christmas...

There is nothing better than the smell of pine roaming throughout the house. The smell itself just makes you think of Christmas.

6. 2017 is almost here!

If I'm being honest, 2016 has not been the greatest year. Whether something has happened to you directly or what is happening in the world, I'm going to just assume everyone cannot wait to put 2016 in the past.

7. There is time to unwind from all the chaos of the past year.

No matter what is happening in the world, life can get wicked crazy and the holiday season is a good time to relax and maybe reflect on the past year.

8. Not only do you get to eat a crazy amount of food, but you also have the opportunity to bake a sh*t ton of cookies!

I don't know about you, and even though I'm not very good at it, I have always loved baking or going into the kitchen and smelling what my mom has in the oven.

9. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hannukah or any other holiday around this time...

With all of the stress and craziness going on at the end of the year, people's moods just seem to be very positive. No matter what you are doing during the holidays, just remember to stay positive.

10. Family.

As annoying as family may be, the holiday season gives you the opportunity to spend as much time or as little time with them as possible. There is nothing better than sitting around the living room telling stories of the past year or sitting at the dining room table enjoying a nice meal.

As I said before, the holiday season can be very stressful for some people. But as most of the Christmas songs say "it is the most wonderful time of the year". No matter what has happened in the past year, just know the holiday season is the time to be cheerful, merry, and bright.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
