10 Reasons to Love Supernatural

There are way more than ten reasons that I love Supernatural, but I figured I would start small.

1.) The Family

There is such a great family dynamic involved with the show. There's Sam and Dean with their brotherhood. There's John the crappy father. Mary the mother who never got the chance to fully prove herself. Sam and Dean would do anything for each other and have multiple times. They've gone to hell and back, literally, for each other.

2.) Bobby Singer

The father the boys should have had. He adopted them in all sense of the word. He was more of a father to them than anyone ever thought of being. Plus, he's the most adorable old drunk with some of the best quotes on the entire show. "Idjits" and "Balls" included.

3.) The Soundtrack

Classic rock for days! The soundtrack is absolutely amazing. I can't hear "Carry on my Wayward Son" without getting emotional. I can't hear "Heat of the Moment" without giggling. It's a toe tapping track and it's absolutely one of my favorite things about the show.

4.) Crowley

The King of Hell. He's a sassy British demon and he's probably one of my favorite characters. He comes up with the best nicknames and despite everything, he deserves to be loved.

5.) Castiel

The fallen angel. The one who raised Dean from perdition. He's a "baby in a trenchcoat", but he's one of my favorite reasons to watch the show.

6.) Baby

The '67 Chevy Impala that has stolen my heart. Baby was passed on to John and it was probably the only good thing he ever did besides sell his soul for Dean to live. Baby is a building block of the show. It's not really Supernatural if Baby isn't in it.

7.) Jo and Ellen's sacrifice

They died so that Sam and Dean could live. Not only that, but so that they could have a fighting chance at surviving and fighting evil.

8.) Jared and Jensen

Jared and Jensen have a bromance of epic proportion. Not only that but Jared struggles with depression. He launched his "Always Keep Fighting" campaign to help people struggling through the same things. Jared and Jensen actually care about their fans. They've consoled plenty of crying fans at conventions because they became overwhelmed.

9.) Misha Collins

He's a giant dork and he owns it. He does so much charity work, mainly "Random Acts of Kindness". He isn't worried about being seen as normal and I love that about him.

10.) It isn't just a show

Despite everything in this article, it isn't just a show to me. I was perfectly normal till an adorable SOB busted into a house late at night and said "Dad's on a hunting trip and he hasn't been home in a few days." This show... It isn't just a show. It's a way of life. It's a means for the fandom to come together because we're all in The Family Business.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
