If any of you guys have a sibling much much older than you, you've most likely come to understand that it is probably one of the greatest blessings EVER. I've been lucky enough to have a sister that is 10 years older than me, and honestly, when I was younger I didn't appreciate it as much as I do now. Here are just 8 out of the hundreds of reasons as to why having a sibling much older than you is the greatest thing ever

1. The advice is better than anything else

Having siblings a generation older than you (in my case around 10 years) they've lived through so many different experiences and learned so much throughout the years that there's no way they don't have a solution to any of your problems

2. You're never bored on family vacations

Of course older = more experiences so you just KNOW that your sibling knows the best things to do in any environment

3. They were the honorary 'Guinea Pig'

Your parents raised him/her first, so obviously, they learned all about what not to do the next time around. Although let's be honest, sometimes it feels as if the older sibling is always put together far much more than you.

4. They created a name for you

If your family didn't move and the teachers they had for grade school were still there, there was no greater feeling than knowing you walked the same hallways, had the same teachers, and did the same projects as your sibling. And it was always a plus if they had a golden reputation among all of the staff at your schools.

5. Honesty was the best policy

There was no reason why your sibling would ever sugarcoat anything. Everything was said to you with complete honesty and with no regret because looking out for their "mini me" was the most important thing

6. Always there to cover for you

Having seen every crazy phase of your parents, they know exactly what you should be saying and what you shouldn't be saying. And if you screwed up, you could always count on your sib to convince your parents otherwise

7. They were and are your absolute biggest fan

Remembering everything they did growing up and going through school far before you triggers memories of both joy and sporadic failures. Ensuring that you don't do the same, or do the same, your old sibling will always be rooting for you excited to see you succeed

8. They're you

They're a more sophisticated, put together, much older, well-rounded version of you
