If I'm being honest with you, I never went through the hype of looking at multiple colleges and choosing from a list of two or more. I never had to do it because I knew since middle school that I was going to go to Western Michigan University, because my stepmom worked there and I get discounted tuition. But even though I never went through the touring process, I fell in love with Western as soon as I stepped foot on campus, and I have ten reasons you should go here, too.

1) Western Michigan University is home to the best food delivery places, including but not limited to Insomnia Cookies, Two Fellas, and Pita Pit.

2) Our Welcome Week is a big party that spans the whole week all the way up to Sunday night.

3) Speaking of parties, House Crawl is the biggest one of the year. House Crawl will feature people drinking, jumping off of roofs, and literally crawling to their last house.

4) We went to the Cotton Bowl in 2017. It was a big year for football for the Broncos, and apparently it raised the amount of people who applied to Western for fall 2017.

5) Our school has great programs in engineering, aviation, and business, to name a few, but we offer anything from anthropology to product design to dance to nursing.

6) Miller Fountain makes walking to classes so much better, especially when it's warm and sunny out and there are kids lounging in hammocks and in the grass nearby.

7) There's always people at the flagpoles passing out information on different churches, and then sometimes there's free food.

8) The Campus Activities Board puts on amazing events for the kids to attend, and most of them are $1 with your student ID.

9) Speaking of student organizations, Western has plenty, ranging from sororities and fraternities to interest based organizations to intramural and club sports.

10) Last but not least, we're home to Waldos, Old Goat, and Campus Roadhouse, to name a few bars nearby. Kalamazoo also has plenty of other bars.

Hopefully this list made it easy to choose Western as your top choice. Never forget: it's always a great day to be a bronco!

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
