10 Reasons Why I Want To Go Into The Medical Field

The medical field is definitely not for everyone; a person needs to have a calling for it. I have several family members in this field, and I have heard them say that this issue is prevalent in hospitals and medical facilities today. Too many people go into this profession for the wrong reasons, and they should not. They are holding people's lives in their hands, and they should take it seriously.

1. Helping People

I have a desire to help people, those that are hurting, those in need, or those who just needs someone to lift them up. A simple kind word or helping hand goes a long way with a person who truly needs it.

2. Making a Difference

In my future job, I want to make a difference in my patients' lives. I want to show them that I truly care about them. Medical professionals should go to great lengths to help their patients and see that they get the best care possible. There is so much hurting in the world today, and I want to be a person to show love and ease pain.

3. Endless Learning

People in the medical field realize the need to continue their education. They always have something new to learn about or train in. Education does not become void in this profession.

4. Open Field of Opportunities

The medical field has many opportunities for those who choose to go into it. There are options for travel or missions all over the world. People can advance and grow in their field as well and expand their horizons as far as they want.

5. Dressing Up or Dressing Down

Depending on the place of work, most people in the medical field can wear what they want. Some days they will need to dress up, with a dress or skirt or shirt and tie, and other days, they'll need their scrubs, tennis shoes, and a white coat. I, for one, love clothes, and the variety of dress is definitely a plus.

6. Meeting a lot of People

The medical field is an open witness field. Doctors and nurses have the chance to meet and get to know people who they would otherwise not get to. They have the opportunity to show and share the love of Jesus EVERY DAY with the people they come in contact with. To me, the medical field is one of the best professions to fulfill the Great Commission and reach people for Christ.

7. Job Security

Society will always need health services. Through the hardest times in history, medical jobs have always been necessary. This feature also proves very important to students choosing a career. Finding substantial and reliable work can be very hard.

8. Variety of Options to Specialize In

In the medical field, a person can go in any direction they choose. Professionals can choose how they want to serve people and what most interests them. They don't have to grow tired of what they're doing because they can always change and pursue something else; they just have to find the right specialty.

9. Different Levels of Employment

A person who desires to go into the medical field can usually find a job that best suits them. Levels of employment vary. They can go as high as they want, find a job with hours that correlate with their daily lives, and stay satisfied with where they are and what they are doing.

10. It's a calling

28 Daily Thoughts of College Students

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
