Who doesn’t love a good underdog story? I have always been a fan of underdogs for a long as I remember and always preferred to root for the underdog. Here's why you should, too.

1. When the underdogs win, it makes for a hell of a headline.

2. Especially when there is more than one underdog involved, anything can happen.

3. No one likes to see the same person/team win every year.

4. What’s even better is when the champion becomes the underdog-- a good redemption story is always great to see.

5. If you haven’t seen the footage from the Pirates' 2013 season, I highly recommend you go watch it.

It is one of the best sports seasons of an underdog team you will ever see.

6. The movie that really got me into underdogs is Never Back Down.

Once again I recommend giving it a watch, it puts the main character in a seemingly lose-lose situation, and he gets out of it through hard work and sheer determination. It is amazing to watch and leaves an empowering message.

7. The Mighty Ducks... need I say more?

8. For all you wrestling fans, you see underdogs square off with the world’s best all the time.

And the moment they win, there’s nothing like it.

9. If you are an honest Penguins fan, you would probably be lying if you said you knew who Bryan Rust was before the playoffs last year.

All it takes is a few clutch plays from a guy like him, and they become greatness. It’s a great story to watch.

10. The underdog always gets the girl.

Sorry tough guys, nice guys don’t always finish last.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
