10 Reasons To Become A Teacher

As I have spoken about before, teaching is my passion. My goal in life is not only to become an educator but, also a leader. I want to see the strength within each and every single one of my students. I want them to know that they have whatever it takes to become the best versions of themselves. Teaching isn't only an occupation in my mind, but rather, it is a lifestyle. You're still technically a student, in the sense that you are learning more and more about each of your students, and, therefore, you develop your own techniques and ideas on how to work alongside with them. So, here are 10 reasons to become a teacher.

1. You go home with a sense of fulfillment.

Being a teacher seems to be an extremely fulfilling job. You have made a positive impact on not only yourself, but your students as well. When you see your students strive both inside and outside the classroom, it gives one a sense of happiness.

2. Decorating the Classroom.

Ever since I was a young girl, I have always dreamed of designing my own classroom. Posters of famous authors due to the fact that I want to be an English teacher. Pretty pens, pencils and stationary everywhere. And, of course, a bright shiny red apple on the desk!

3. Summer Vacations.

Within most occupations in life, an individual works all year round. There do not seem to be any real "long-term" breaks. Although, when it comes to being a teacher, things are different. In fact, teachers get summers off! This a time yes to relax and enjoy the sun, but this time also gives one room to set up for the next semester (or school years) agenda! A teacher has time to plan out during the summer how to improve their style and educational ideas.

4. Life-Long Learning.

As I noted earlier on within my note, a teacher is still a student. Really, you're never truly out of the classroom! As one teachers, they are able to gain more and more knowledge about there students. Thus, the teacher is then able to learn how to work in an individualized and unique way with each one of his or her own students.

5. Subjects and Freedom.

Luckily when it comes to teaching, within the education and college process before that, one gets to settle down and accept a focus on what specific subject they would like to teach. In a sense, there is more freedom as you are able to teach a certain subject that you truly enjoy and are quite passionate about.

6. Health-Care benefits.

We all know that within this world, everything in life cost money, especially health care. Excitingly, there are health benefits when it comes to teaching. Teachers get a discount on their health insurance which is a must need and such a great reward and treat.

7. Understanding who you are working with.

Due to the fact that as a teacher you are spending numerous hours with your students, you are able to get to know them on a personal basis. For the most part, you become aware of their academic strengths and their weaknesses. Your goal is to take upon your students struggles as your own, and work through the obstacle courses to successfully overcome them. Achieving this also brings once again, such a rewarding feeling to the educator.

8. The hard work IS worth the wait (for both you and your students).

Teachers work a very hard and long day as most occupations do. Although, there is something amazing that can come out as a result of being an educator. That moment when a student goes to you, with a giant smile on their face about doing well on a homework assignment, a test, a project, you name it. Just to know that you were part of the reason behind them achieving their goals is so great and something to be extremely proud of.

9. Shaping the future.

As individuals in this fast pace society that we live in, we never known what is going to happen next. What will the economy be like, what will our environment be like? As a teacher, you are granted the ability to educate your students who eventually will be the cause of what goes right in the world. You are able to pass down the great ideas, notions and information that you know to strengthen the minds of others.

10. Overall Growth of you AND your students.

As a teacher, one gets to watch others enjoy their personal growth and how they become stronger within the academic realm. You get to provide a healthy learning environment for your students as well as yourself. Your students learn to adapt to your ways and you get to adapt to theirs. Overtime, not only does a connection form, but a sense of comfort hopefully forms over time as well!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
