If you've never watched "That 70's Show," I beg you to log in to Netflix right now. But be warned: watch one episode, and you will be hooked. And by hooked, I mean you will binge-watch all eight seasons. So say good-bye to schoolwork, family, and friends. But it's worth it. Trust me.
"That 70's Show" will forever be remembered as one of the strangest but funniest shows of the last few decades. Don't believe me? You'll be more than convinced soon.
1. Two words: Michael Kelso
How can you not enjoy a lovable idiot? Ashton Kutcher's portrayal of Michael Kelso is phenomenal on many levels. Considered the show's breakout character, Kelso proved to be more than a brainless pretty boy. We can all relate to Kelso in some way.
2. Donna and Eric's adorable relationship
One of the main focal points of the show is the friendship/relationship between Eric Forman and Donna Pinciotti. You can't help but wish you had a next door neighbor like Donna or Eric. The contrast between Eric's nerdiness and Donna's admirable feminist views works in such a natural and enchanting way.
3. Speaking of Eric's geekiness...
Let's talk about the ever important relationship between main character Eric and his undying love for "Star Wars." Despite the constant sneers, Eric doesn't let anyone or anything stop him from holding the science fiction phenomenon in the highest regard possible. Even better, the actor who portrays Eric Forman, Topher Grace, is a huge fan of Star Wars as well. Adorable, geeky, amazing.
4. The guest stars
Rewatching the show, I never noticed how many big stars made appearances. Remember when Joseph Gordon-Levitt had a crush on Eric? Or when Hyde went on a date with Melissa Joan Hart? Or the fact that Kitty's mother was Betty freaking White? Best of all, Tommy Chong of "Cheech & Chong" had a recurring role on the show, playing the lovable stoner Leo.
5. Kitty Forman + alcohol
OK, everything involving Eric's mother Kitty is magnificent. Have you heard her laugh? But as a college student, I can't help but especially relate to the relationship between Kitty and her love of alcoholic beverages.
6. We have all felt like Red at some point
On the outside, Eric's ill-tempered father may seem like a scary jerk. But whether we want to admit it or not, we have all felt like Red at some point. Red despises people, and isn't afraid to say exactly what's on his mind, no matter how rude it may be. If you've ever used the word "dumbass," you are more like Red than you may know.
7. Burn! moments
Whenever a character made a particularly witty remark, you couldn't help but scream "BURN!" at the screen. Or maybe that's just me.
8. The pitiful love-life of Fez
Oh Fez. The horniest member of the group, you couldn't help but feel bad for just how pathetic his sex life was. At the same time, you couldn't help but be confused as well. Fez is a good looking guy! Creepy and perverted at times, yes, but sweet and attractive nonetheless.
9. The circle
Watching the show when I was young and innocent, I never knew what the gang was doing when they were sitting in the now infamous "circle." But today, I aspire to start a "circle" of my own. If you've never even seen the show, you can still probably recognize it if nothing else from the show.
10. Saving the best for last, the character that is Steven Hyde
OK, maybe it's just me in thinking Hyde is the greatest character on the show, and one of the best television characters of all time. I may be bias, considering I feel like I am Hyde at times. The rebel of the gang, Hyde is tough and unemotional. His lack of respect for authority is admirable and relatable. Despite this, he is shown to have a soft side and cares deeply for the people in his life. His hatred of the government? Don't get me started. Here's to you, Hyde. And here's to the perfection that is "That 70's Show."
