10 Reasons To Thank Your Dog
Abi Fallon

Your dog is not only your pet, but part of your family. You need to thank them for everything they do that goes unnoticed on a daily basis.

You need to thank your dog for...

1. Always being so excited to see you.

When you walk in the door. When you come out of your room. When you come down the steps. Your dog is always excited to see you. Who else gets so excited to see you that sometimes they pee?

2. Always cuddling with you, even when you're being a brat.

My dog is always down to cuddle, especially when I have food, or when he is super tired and lets me wrap him up like a little puppy burrito.

3. Sticking by your side when you went through a break up.

My dog loved my ex, sometimes I think more than he loved me. But guess who he picked when we split... That's right, me! (Even though he didn't have a choice because he lived in my house.)

4. Always barking at strangers, they don't know who is good or bad.

Shout out to you for always trying to protect me. Yea, that biker may not be a threat, and no the Dunkin' Donuts man isn't trying to attack me, but it is the thought that counts.

5. Eating the food you dropped on the floor.

Ever since I have had a dog, I have never had to clean up a chicken nugget off of the ground. Oops, I dropped spaghetti on the ground, never fear dog is here.

6. Listening to every problem you have ever had.

When no one else is around and you start to tell your dog all of the drama in your life.. yea that is normal, right? Who cares? My dog is my BFF.

7. Never judging you for any of your mistakes.

My dog has watched me watch Netflix, instead of studying for my exam. Did he judge me? No. He understands my struggle. Has my dog watched me fall down the last few steps? Yep. Has he made fun of me for it ever? Nope.

8. Never letting you ride in the car alone.

Ask your dog if they want to go for a ride in the car. I dare you. 10/10 times they will freak out and get beyond excited to go just about anywhere with you (Unless its the V-E-T).

9. Giving you someone to blame for making a mess.

Every time my sister leaves for college, I need someone else to blame for leaving my shoes in the middle of the room. Thank god my dog is here to take the blame. You the real MVP.

10. Being your best friend, day in and day out.

My dog is the greatest, happiest, laziest creature alive, and I wouldn't want any other sloppy kisser to be my pet.

Thank you Otto (AKA Noodle, Toto, Poodle, Poopsie, Pupper, Cutie Cute, and many more) and Ruby (Rest in Peace my love).

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
