I have been lucky enough to live in Tennessee for my entire life. Maybe I’m a little biased when I say this but I strongly believe that Tennessee is the best state EVER. While most people are dying to leave where they are from, I’m honestly dying to stay here for as long as I possibly can (and maybe forever). Let’s take a look at a few of the things that make Tennessee so great.
The amazing mountains.
We live near, around, and in some of the most beautiful mountains you can find anywhere. A drive to Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains or a trip to Cades Cove will prove that you really can’t beat the scenery.
Big cities and the small towns.
Knoxville. Nashville. Memphis. Chattanooga. There are so many big cities with wonderful history behind them - they each differ and have so much to offer. On the other hand we have the smallest towns that you’ve probably never heard of. Once you find them – they have the best movie theaters, drug stores, hole-in-the-wall restaurants and coffee shops you’ll ever discover.
The weather.
What I love about Tennessee weather is how distinct all four seasons are. Each one makes its presence known. There’s never too much snow. Summer never lasts too long. They’re all just right.
Iconic brand names.
A lot of household brand names started right here in our own state. You can thank us for MoonPies, Little Debbies, RC Cola, Krystal’s, Coca-Cola’s first bottling company, and many more. You’re welcome.
Jack Daniels.
I would have listed this in the above but this deserves it’s own category. The finest whiskey money can buy is made right within our borders. You can find it’s home in Lynchburg, Tennessee.
Dollywood (and Dollywood Splash).
This is Dolly Parton’s pride and joy (well, so is the Dixie Stampede). For a random theme park located in the mountains of Tennessee this place can provide a day filled with fun. With multiple rollercoasters, shows, theaters, and all the kettle corn you can imagine -- you don’t want to miss out on a day trip here.
Music.
We’re the home of country music but also had a huge impact on rock ‘n’ roll, the blues, and R&B. To list a few greats from our great state: Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, BB King, Johnny Cash, and of course Justin Timberlake. One of the country’s greatest music festivals – Bonnaroo -- is also held in none other than Manchester, Tennessee.
Southern food.
Sweet tea. Fried chicken. Biscuits. Barbecue. Waffle House. Chick-fil-a. Zaxbys. Need I say more?
Southern football.
Tennessee is home of one of the greatest stadiums in all of college football – Neyland Stadium. Make a trip on any given Saturday in the fall and you’ll find 102,455 Volunteers all ready to scream and cheer with you. Some of them are half bear/half cat, some are wild as a mink, some are sweet as soda pop... I promise you'll still dream about that.
Southern hospitality.
This is my personal favorite – there is nothing like a sweet southern soul and there are many and plenty friendly folks to come by down in these parts. From the “y'all” and “ain’t” to the warm embraces and the genuine gestures, this is the kind of stuff you can’t and won’t find anywhere else.
