8 Reasons Why I Need Summer

After such long winter months and crazy spring weather, I am ready to take on summer like no other. Anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely love summer and the adventures it brings. Toes in the sand, sun kissed skin, hair gets lighter, and drinks get colder is the best feeling ever.

With classes coming to an end, I am counting down the days till I can head to the beach. After such a stressful semester full of assignments and countless papers, I can't wait to sink my toes in the sand. I know i'm not the only one waiting for some sun rays to turn this pale skin into a much needed tan. With Memorial Day approaching, i'm reminded once again of the wonderful reasons why I love summer and warm weather.

1. No More Classes

One of the best parts of summer is having no more class. No more papers to write or worrying about procrastinating on assignments. The summer days are yours to spend which ever way you want.

2. Late Summer Nights

Is there anyone else who just loves summer nights? I love being able to stay out extra late because you don't really have a care in the world. I love hanging out with great friends on the boardwalk and walking the beach late at night.

3. Fashion

After such a crazy winter and spring, it is finally time to bring out the summer clothing. Most importantly, BATHING SUITS! I must say that it is the best. Shorts, maxi dresses, rompers, and sandals. Need I say more?

4. Major Vitamin D

Being stuck in doors for the past few months does nothing good for our skin. With the weather finally heating up, I can take a towel and bake under the sun. Finally some color to my skin which means I wont have to worry about bronzer or much makeup!

5. Vacation

Summer Vacation is just around the corner. Tropical Islands, beach houses, and majortravel plans happen within the summer months. If your like me, I booked all my vacations months ahead and are counting the days until I leave for vacation.

6. Adventures

I feel that summer is such a careless and freeing season for everyone. My friends are always willing to go on crazy adventures during the summer. Exploring new towns, beaches, and crazy

7. Outdoor Activities

I love being outdoors. I am so glad that with warmer weather I get to spend most of my time outside enjoying nature. Swimming, hiking, paddle boarding, and festivals are some of my favorite things to do in the summer.

8. Summer Food

Am I the only one who loves summer food? Ice cold drinks, ice cream, funnel cake, fried oreos, and tons of fresh fruit. What's summer without all these delicious snacks to munch on while laying out in the sun?

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
