1. Celebrities are paid to look good.
You know how you go to work for 40 hours a week and work your ass off? That's what celebrities do, but instead of working in a cubicle they workout in a gym seven days a week in Versace sneakers. Oh and their personal chefs make sure they do not eat a single carb.
2. Money is not the same thing as puberty.
Ahh, the famous Kylie Jenner. Her "glo-up" is one of the most famous puberty miracles of the millennium. While we sit here doing the Kylie Jenner lip challenge, the sick reality is that money pays and we just don't have the money that celebrities have. Does *sighing* count as cardio?
3. Photoshop is a lying bitch.
If we were all equipped with the finest quality Photoshop for all our selfies we would all be "Instagram Famous". While some of those new Snapchat filters are a good alternative, let's be real, we won't ever look like Blake Lively at all hours of the day.
4. Natural beauty is always better than "fake" beauty.
Now, I am not the type of girl to say no to fake eyelashes and winged liner... but I am also not the type of girl to throw on a full face of makeup for no reason whatsoever. While getting dolled up for a big event is a great feeling, I prefer a nice coat of mascara and light face powder to let my skin breathe. Take the classic beauties of Old Hollywood! Audrey Hepburn never needed Photoshop and a $400 face of makeup to prove to the world that she was beautiful.
5. Research shows that guys actually like when women have some meat on their bones.
I am not into body shaming, whether that applies to "plus-size" or thin women. Women of all sizes are equally beautiful! That being said, research has shown that men prefer women with curves over women without them. According to an article written by NBC news, curvaceous women can make a man feel happy, similar to the effect of alcohol or drugs to the brain. For all the women who feel insecure because of their curves, be proud of them.
6. Celebrities only show us what they want us to see.
Everyone does it, but celebrities are the main culprits of this habit. Social media is an unrealistic presence of yourself on the internet. Celebrities post pictures and videos of themselves when they are prettiest and happiest. In reality, Gigi Hadid and Adriana Lima all have bad hair days and wake up looking like an aged potato. You don't post pictures of yourself at your worst angles, so why would they?
7. It is a lose-lose situation.
Comparing yourself to others is no way to validate your worth. There is always going to be someone with more money, more clothes, more followers and more success than you. Focusing on being the best version of yourself is much more rewarding and less stressful in the long run.
8. The life of a celebrity is not what it is all cracked up to be.
Imagine waking up at the crack of dawn to put on a full face of makeup and run around from one job to another all day. Okay, while some of us might actually find this appealing consider this: celebrities live their entire lives in the public eye. They can't go on vacation or the grocery store without a picture being taken of them. I don't know about you but when I need a carton of milk at 8 P.M., I roll into Target looking like a drowned rat with zero shame at all... given that I am safely concealed by a large baseball cap.
9. Comparing yourself to others is damaging your self-esteem.
Low self-esteem is linked with depression, low levels of self-confidence and distrust in relationships. Instead of constantly comparing yourself, learn to love the body you were given. By dressing and looking the way you want, you are empowering yourself to be independent.
10. Regardless, you are beautiful.
Every person in this world deserves to feel absolutely beautiful. Whether you know it or not, others believe you are beautiful for more than just your external appearance. Listen to Eminem, "don't let 'em say you ain't beautiful".
