Most of the time when we think about a fashion show, we imagine a tall slender model strutting in the lights and showing off beautiful clothing. Many of us, women in particular, choose to sit in the crowd instead of being on stage because we don't have the look, confidence or "talent" based on model expectations society has created. But a 5'3, 150 pound girl like me has walked the stage as a model for two years and what a great experience it has been.
I had neither the height or shape of a "normal" model, but I assured myself that nothing is worse than not applying myself at all. Here are 10 aspects I've gained as a model in the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Fashion Show:
