10 Reasons You Should Hate Your Best Friend

Since she is your soulmate, your best friend, and the one that will never leave your side, she's typically always right. Don't you just hate that?

1. They say what you need to hear.

It's painful to hear the absolute truth, but someone has to do it. She knows every side to your life and it's important to hear that from someone whose always rooting for you.

2. They drag you to work out with them.

No matter how much you protest and pout, you put on those tennis shoes and drive yourself to the gym. The endorphins will make you much more thankful when you're done.

3. They show you tough love.

She knows you are stronger than what you are facing, and that it's time you realize this too.

4. They hit the "send" button if you can't.

As your best friend, she should climb over you and "accidentally" hit the send button, and a string of "I hate yous" is bound to follow. On the other hand, don't forget the times she steals your phone so that you can't "accidentally" send that other text.

5. They tell you when you look like crap.

She shouldn't sugarcoat it. You need to shower, wash your hair, and change your clothes. Not only will you feel 100 times better, but you'll also look a solid 11 out of 10.

6. They eat a full pizza with you.

The majority of your calorie consumption comes from nights with your best friend when you need it most. Even though you "don't want to break your diet," you "unfortunately" can't say no to a night in with her.

7. They force you to text them if they're in an awkward situation.

Reassure and repeat. You know the situation will be fine but you're her best friend. Reassure and repeat.

8. They act just as a part of the family as you.

She unlocks your front door, greets your parents, goes to kitchen and then makes her self comfortable on the couch before you even realize she's there.

9. They realize your emotions before you do.

You don't even realize how you're acting until your best friend points it out. She's practically your unpaid therapist who can spot a bad mood from miles away. You can't always tell if it's frustrating or comforting that someone can be so right about you.

10. They love you even when you don't feel like being loved.

Your best friend sees what's in your heart. You are not guarded from her and she is not guarded from you. It may be a bad day, week or year, but she will absolutely never give up on you. You reject other people, but she will work to let herself in because she needs you and your love as much as you need hers.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
