10 Reasons Pinterest Is The Best

Pinterest is one of my favorite social media apps, and I swear that they are not paying me to say this! After Facebook and Twitter, it is the third most popular social media site. Pinterest has been around for about six years now, and with every year that it is around, its online momentum grows. Today, there are about 100 million active users on Pinterest. It is 2016, and if you do not have a Pinterest yet, you are missing out! There are so many reasons why Pinterest is the best!

1. Pinterest is full of endless inspiration

You can find almost anything on Pinterest. There is so much to take in. From artwork to home ideas to workout routines, because Pinterest has so much to offer, there are so many new ideas you can use for inspiration that you may not have been exposed to before on any other social media site.

2. Pinterest also has a lot of How-To's and DIY's

Pinterest is home to all the How-To and DIY projects. DIY and crafts is one of the most popular items searched on Pinterest. There are also lots of tutorials for different things, from hair and beauty, to art and photography hacks, to computer software tutorials, to food and drink recipes.

3. Pinterest is very organized and easy to use

You create boards for certain things, such as a recipes board or a beauty board, then add all your pins and ideas to that specific board-it is that simple! You can add and delete boards as you wish, and reorder your boards to your liking. It is not as difficult or complicated as a lot of other social media sites.

4. Pinterest also offers Secret Boards

In the couple of years, Pinterest added the option to make some of your boards "secret,"so that only you can see it. Not many other social media sites offer "secret" or "anonymous" options like this. Now you can make a board to plan your friend's surprise birthday party, and she will never see it!

5. You follow who/what you want

You choose to follow what ideas you want to, and therefore only see what you want to. For example, if you do not want to see any politics and are not following any politics boards, then you will not end up seeing anything politics-related. Unlike Facebook or Twitter where they are always throwing trending topics in your face, Pinterest only suggests things and ideas based on your activity. So if you have been looking at fashion-related pins recently, they will suggest more fashion-related ideas, not throw politics, recipes, celebrities, or anything else unrelated in your face.

6. Everyone can-and does- use Pinterest

When Pinterest first was introduced, you had to be INVITED to join! Not any more. Anyone can sign up for Pinterest. And while Pinterest has often been seen as a more woman-dominated site, men have been joining at larger rates. everyone of different ages, young to old, have joined Pinterest.

7. You can easily buy things or find the original source of Pins

Sometimes the original source of something is hard to find, especially on the Internet. But you will not have that issue on Pinterest. With every photo on Pinterest, when clicked, will bring you to a site that gives you the product pictured or the original site of something, no extensive search needed.

8. Pinterest helps you find things you never knew you needed

Most of the time on Pinterest, you search for what exactly you are looking for. However, more recently, Pinterest has been suggesting further search options personalized for you, based on your most recent and popular activity, pushing you to new pins and ideas that you may not have thought of before.

9. Pinterest works equally on the computer and on a mobile device

A lot of social media sites nowadays tend to favor mobile devices, where the better features will be. However, this does not occur with Pinterest. Pinterest offers the same features on both desktop and mobile devices. However, Google Chrome on desktop offers a really cool feature- you can even download a Pinterest "pin it" button, that will save ideas as pins from any website you are on.

10. Pinterest is free

Pinterest is huge nowadays, and growing in momentum. However, Pinterest has always been free, and still is. so what are you waiting for?

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
