Ten Reasons For Participating In No Shave November

“It’s not like I have anyone to impress anyways.”

Ten Reasons For Participating In No Shave November
Common White Girl

Ladies, it is that time of year again! Cuffing season, my ass. It’s 'No Shave November'! I don’t know about you all but this time of year I like to snuggle up with a blanket, drinking hot chocolate, and binge watching Netflix alone, emphasis on alone. Without a guy to impress and so many things to do, who has time and good reasons to shave? It’s a process to do so and if all the guys aren’t shaving their faces, why is it so wrong for us to stop shaving for a month too? Most girls out there refuse to officially announce their participation; you know you still have these thoughts throughout the month of November, and all of winter really.

1. “Want to make a bet on who goes longest without shaving?”

2. “I’m wearing pants anyways so no one will see my legs.”

3. “Maybe I’ll do it tomorrow.”

4. “I’m too cold to get in the shower.”

5. “It’s not like I have anyone to impress anyways.”

6. “It gives me an extra layer of warmth”

7. “I don’t have enough time to shave.”

8. “I’m already in too deep. There’s no point now.”

9. “If the guys don’t shave their faces, then I’m not shaving my legs”

10. “It’s called No Shave November for a reason!”

Now this month of November has been pretty wild so far. I mean 80 degrees on November 1st?! It’s feeling more like September than November so far. But it is anticipated to be a brutal winter. So maybe this year it won’t be 'No Shave November' for us but 'No Shave The Entire Winter' instead. While most of the time it is totally unintentional to participate, all of us ladies experience 'No Shave November' for a majority of the month, purposefully or not. And we all have the same excuses every year. It’s just something that happens and slips out of our control without us realizing. All of the sudden we look at our legs and it looks like we are back in our awkward middle school stage of whether it’s time to start shaving or not. Apologies boys, it’s just what happens. Sorry, we're not sorry. It really saves us a lot time and we get to take advantage of having to wear pants in this cold weather. So thank goodness for leggings and big sweatshirts. But that’s a whole other winter trend. So for now put those razors on hold and let it grow. Embrace it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
