10 Reasons To Take A Nap

Naps are magical.

10 Reasons To Take A Nap

One could say I am a connoisseur of naps.

Sure, you can't put it on a resume, but there are plenty of reasons that naps are wonderful. While I haven't always been this way, one thing that I have learned in college is that a nap can do wonders for your emotional and physical wellbeing. Some people argue that naps are a waste of time, but that could not be farther from the truth. So, in case you need them, here are just a few perfectly legitimate reasons to take a nap:

1. Because you're tired.

Yep, it's that simple. Being tired is your body's way of telling you something is off. Listen to it. It's not like you're going to be super productive in this state anyway.

2. Because you're sick.

I am a firm believer that getting sick is often a result of improper amounts of sleep. Your immune system needs you to rest so that it can fight for you!

3. Because you're bored.

I mean, sleep is better for your body than watching Netflix and snacking for 2 hours.

4. Because you want to cuddle.

If your cuddle buddy is around, take advantage!

5. Because you want to procrastinate.

Again, this isn't completely pointless procrastination. Your body and mind are reaping the benefits. Who knows, maybe you will get a spark of inspiration in a dream?

6. Because the weather is crappy.

If the sun isn't out, why should you have to be awake? It's like the universe is BEGGING you to sleep.

7. Because you're sad/mad/frustrated/emotional.

Sometimes, a good nap is just what you need to clear your head and work through whatever is bothering you.

8. Because you're craving junk food.

Just nap the temptation away. It's a great diet strategy.

9. Because you found a comfy spot.

Your bed, a couch, a desk at the library... when you happen to find a good napping spot, you can't deny yourself the opportunity.

10. Because YOU FEEL LIKE IT.

Chances are, you spend a whole lot of time stressing about life-- work, school, relationships, bills... the list could go on and on. You deserve a little rest now and then. (Or all the time.)
