1. Crazy Relaxation:
After an extremely stressful day of studying and homework there's nothing better than rolling out my mint green yoga mat to do nothing other than relax and become in touch with my body.
2. Slow Pace:
I'm not a very fast pace person when it comes to exercise. One of the main reasons I love yoga is that you can move at whatever pace feels best for you. You can relax for a meditation or go through a vinyasa at whatever speed you feel like doing.
3. All You Need Is A Mat:
You can be anywhere imaginable and all you need to do is roll out your mat and get your yoga flow going.
4. Stretching:
Throughout the day my hand clenches tightly around a pencil and my back begins to round over so much that you could mistake me for the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Nothing feels better to me than just stretching my muscles and opening up my body.
5. Breath:
With all the stress that studying, homework, and exams bring, I sometimes forget to just take a deep breath and refocus. On the mat, there is nothing else to focus on besides the rise and flow of my stomach with each breath I take.
6. Flexibility:
I love being able to just bend over and touch my toes without my back being in severe pain. It feels so good to stretch without it being brutally painful.
7. Perspective:
Yoga gives you the chance to look forward, upside-down, sideways and with every way you look you get a new perspective.
8. Strength:
During the flows you are working your arms, abs, butt, legs, etc. and you notice them becoming stronger with each pose and even after you step off your mat.
9. Challenge:
There's a always another harder version of whatever pose you're doing and after achieving the challenges you feel extremely proud and fulfilled.
10. Being in touch with your body:
In my opinion there is nothing more raw and pure than yoga. There are no pads or sneakers to hide behind, its just you and your body, barefoot and all. You will release tension you didn't even know you had and your body will move in ways you never thought it could. There's nothing quite like feeling so in touch with your body that you feel like you are unstoppable.
