If you clicked on this article and haven’t heard the story of the dancing dubstep violinist from Utah, prepare to have your mind blown. After being told that at some points in her last performance in the quarterfinals of “America’s Got Talent,” her playing sounded like “a bunch of rats being strangled,” Lindsey blew up Youtube with her incredible violin covers. Now, she’s a world-class musician with hundreds of millions of views on Youtube, and ready to release her third album. Here's all the reasons you should start listening to her music right now:
1. She proved Piers Morgan wrong.
Piers Morgan thought Lindsey wasn’t good enough to fly through the air and play violin at the same time. Nowadays, that is all does when she dances up on stage on her tours, or when she is making live music videos to an unsuspecting audience. On her website, she is quoted saying, "The same reasons I was told I wouldn’t succeed are the reasons people travel hundreds of miles to see me now."
2. She overcame an eating disorder.
As a teenager, Lindsey suffered from an eating disorder. Now, she’s healthy and happy, all thanks to her violin and her music. She's proof that music can save you, and things do get better.
3. She’s a musician, a dancer, AND an author.
Sure, The Piano Guys mix modern music with classical, and sure, there are other string groups out there who play remixes of top chart pop songs, but none have come as far as Lindsey has. Her own music doesn’t sound like anything you’d hear on classical radio, or pop radio. Besides that, none of those artists dance while playing their instrument. Lindsey is a triple-threat musician, dancer, and https://www.amazon.com/Only-Pirate-at-Party/dp/1501119109author... and she does it better than anyone else.
4. She writes her own music.
She started out doing covers of video game themes and hip hop songs, but now, Lindsey is two-albums deep in her own music, and about to release her third album. Not only can she recreate other incredible songs, but she can make her own unique tracks that sounds like nothing else. 5. She always gives credit to her collaborators.
Lindsey has done collaborations with Peter Hollens, The Piano Guys, and even Pentatonix. She never fails to thank them at the end of every video and compliment their talents. There's no reason for her not to, because they all deserve it.
6. Her dog has an Instagram.
It’s kind of a lame reason to love her, bu @imlunalatte has over 16,000 followers now, and it’s not because Lindsey dresses her tiny Chihuahua in cute outfits. Lindsey loves her dog, and anyone who is a friend of animals is a person to admire.
7. She isn’t full of herself.
When Lindsey was invited to perform on the same talent show she was kicked off of ("America's Got Talent"), she easily could have made a big deal about how successful she had become since they voted her off, telling her she’d never amount to anything. Instead, all she could do is talk about how grateful she is for her experiences and how shocked she is at her success. When she performed with Céline Dion on the Billboard Music Awards, she could have made a big deal about how Céline was the only one during the entire show who acknowledged that she performed at all. Instead, she tweeted about how thankful she was for the experience, and congragulated fellow YouTuber, Troye Sivan on his performance.
8. She’s not afraid to express herself in her videos.
In her cover videos, Lindsey always dresses up. She’s been Link, Princess Leia, and a character from Skyrim. She also dresses up for her own music videos, often sporting some kind of steampunk-style outfit.
9. She’s classically trained.
Music nerds can appreciate her, too, because she started off learning Beethoven before she moved on to more modern music. It’s not all computerized sounds synched up with a violin melody. She knows what she’s doing when she writes her music, and she does it well.
10. She loves her fans.
Lindsey is always thanking her fans for getting her to where she is. She constantly shares fanart on her Facebook page, and gives full credit to the artist every time. You can tell that she really cares about us, because she takes the time to share our talents right beside her own. You go, Lindsey. Keep inspiring people.
