Both food and friendship have always been controversial points in life. We love both of them, yet they both seem to hurt us one way or the other. Whether it's people that hurt us by leaving or food that hurts us by staying behind in our summer bodies; they both make us cry one way or the other. However, there are highly important distinctions between the both of them that, in the end, make us choose food over people.

1. Food will always be there for you, seriously.

Even though your friends say they will "always" be there for you, they physically can't. Meanwhile, your Ben&Jerry's pint will always be in your freezer whenever you need a good cry at two in the morning and your friends are asleep, or just won't answer the phone.

2. It's easier to make food than to make friends.

If you're socially awkward, like I am, it's very hard to make friends and meet new people. However, it's way easier to meet bacon. Food won't make awkward eye contact with you or try to make small talk, and it's just a drive to the supermarket away. Unlike with people, you don't even have to try to make a good first impression, pizza won't judge you on anything. And it doesn't matter if you don't know how to cook because "Easy Mac" has your back.

3. Food can bring people together.

So, you know when you introduce someone new to a friend of yours, and then they end up being closer to your friend than you ever were? Food won't do that to you. People brought together by food can be loved equally, nothing could tear them apart. Except for having to share their food, of course.

4. Food won't hurt your feelings.

Even though it can hurt your diet and make you fat, your emotional state will always remain intact. Yay for feelings.

5. Food won't steal from you.

From covers to boyfriends, food will never take anything from you.

6. Food won't walk away from you.

Even though food always sadly comes to an end, you can just get some more. Out of Ice Cream? Buy some more. Food can temporarily leave you, but in the end, it will always come back to you.

7. Because Pizza.

Do I really have to explain myself on this one?

8. It will make you happy without even trying.

Your boyfriend didn't buy you red roses? Let pizza dry your tears. Did he forget your anniversary? Chocolate will literally boost your mood. Remembered you don't actually have a boyfriend? Don't worry ,Häagen-Dazs are here for you.

9. Ice Cream would never judge you.

Food will make you feel beautiful even when it's Friday night and you're scarfing down a whole bag of chips by yourself while watching Netflix on your sweats and a messy bun, or if you're a guy, while playing black ops on your star wars boxers. Also, pizza could never judge you for eating that fourth slice.

10. Food doesn't feel, unless you want it to.

Even though you can feel like food loves you, it could never get angry at you. Ben and Jerry's could never get jealous of you eating Häagen-Dazs, so they'll never argue with you. Food could never talk about you behind your back, but I can't promise it will never make you feel guilty.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
