Proof That I Grew Up To Be Lizzie McGuire

Step aside Hilary Duff, there's a new Lizzie in town.

Proof That I Grew Up To Be Lizzie McGuire

Are you a female in or nearing your 20s? If yes, you probably grew up watching as much "Lizzie McGuire" as I did. If so, then you too have been on the emotional rollercoaster that was Lizzie's life. Maybe you had the same flair jeans and hair ties as Lizzie. Or perhaps you collected her trendy chokers and stylish belts. Looking back, it would seem that my similarities with Lizzie McGuire go beyond her wild fashion statements and hairstyles. I think it's safe to say that both my elementary school and adult self is totally stoked about this.

1. We both needed some uplift...

Lizzie and I both knew that the desire to own your first bra was the ultimate struggle. Maybe your mom doesn't think it's time yet. Cue eye roll. Or maybe your mom is on board but since she's the one paying, you'll be strutting around your room in beige sports bras until you can buy your own cute push-up. Preteen me started my bra journey with some white sports bras from Limited Too. I can't complain too much, Limited Too was the place to shop. Thanks for the support, Mom!

2. Neither of us are ever satisfied with our wardrobes.

This applies to more girls than Lizzie and I, I'm sure. I can't tell you the number of times I've opened my closet and not been able to pick out an outfit to save my life. What the heck? I have too many options for this to be an issue. Or wait, maybe that's it. Too many options! Someone, anyone, please teach me how to dress myself with the wardrobe I've got.

3. We each went down the road of rebellion.

Like OMG, it's not just a phase! OK, maybe it was. Lizzie did her unruly thing and I did mine. Like Lizzie, I had some "out there" hair going on. My hairstyles weren't as eccentric, but I had some pink going on, blue at some point, and even black undertones because why not? My eyeliner was as black as my soul and far too think to ever be in any kind of style. I even pierced my nose, which definitely completed the look.

4. We've both struggled with being a good friend.

Like Lizzie, I too will cave and apologize. I just need my friends to know they are loved and important to me no matter what. Being the perfect friend is impossible but being a decent human isn't so challenging. I learned a lot about friendship from the Lizzie, Miranda and Gordo trio. Through the good and bad, being a friend is full-time job that anyone can do when you know each other as well as Lizzie and her friends knew each other.

5. Christmas is our favorite holiday.

Lizzie and I love Christmas. Why? Why not? Twinkling lights everywhere, happy humans, amazing food, family and friends everywhere, a break from reality, gift giving, and I suppose we can count the perk of receiving gifts as well.

6. We both know Aaron Carter.

So, maybe I haven't met Aaron Carter. And maybe he didn't give me a Christmas kiss like he did Lizzie. But he follows me on Twitter and that's basically the same thing, right? Read it and weep, friends.

7. She and I have both fallen for a friend.

Oops? It happens to the best of us. Thank goodness Lizzie finally kissed Gordo on this rooftop in Rome. It was about time that boy got a kiss. But I feel you Lizzie, the perfect setting can get the best of your emotions sometimes.

8. Neither of us cheered our way through high school.

Lizzie probably avoided cheer because of Kate, but I like to think it was just that we each had other passions blocking our view of the miniskirts and pom-poms. Also, who has energy to be that peppy all the time? Props to anyone who made it through high school cheering on and off the field. I can't say it's not impressive, it just wasn't for Lizzie and I.

9. We have had similar boy troubles.

I am right there with you, Lizzie. If my crush calls me dude one more time, I swear... When you aren't quite as girly as other females, you can become one of the guys pretty easily. Sometimes that's great and I'm all for it. But when your crush gives you a bro-five, you've got to give yourself a facepalm and move on.

10. We both followed our dreams!

Sing it, Lizzie! I grew up believing that if Lizzie McGuire could follow her dreams, so could I. And I have! I have in a variety of ways, but the biggest dream I followed was my Disney dream. Coincidence that Disney's "Lizzie McGuire" led me to work for the Walt Disney World Company? I think not. Now sing it with me, this is what dreams are made of!

Preteen me would be overjoyed with how similar I was and am to the famous Lizzie McGuire. All of these reasons and more would have definitely inspired a solid "dear diary" entry or at least a dream journal note. In case you're as big a Lizzie fan as I am, you can now watch full episodes of "Lizzie McGuire" on video.disney.com. Enjoy!

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.
