10 Reasons Why It's Important To Get Outside

1. It's healthy. And it can spur weight loss.

According to an article from the Huffington Post, "Here's Proof Going Outside Makes You Healthier", outdoor activities, such as being in the mountains, relate directly to weight loss. They say that "spending time at high altitudes could help shed some pounds, even if you're just visiting. The higher heights can help speed up your metabolism, while actually lessening hunger cravings."

2. Free Oxygen!

Thank you trees! #breathing #O2

3. The experts say it makes you happier.

Psychologist Judith Heerwagon explained in an interview for the same Huffington Post article that, "Just looking at a garden or trees or going for a walk..reduces stress...Something about being in a natural setting that shows clear evidence of stress reduction..." She also stated that there is a theory that people respond positively to things that are good for them, so natural things like getting fresh air can improve our mood.

4. Who doesn't like to explore?

Cause wanderlust, ya feel?

5. Exercise is key. Even if it's just a short walk. Or a hike up a 14er.

Research conducted at the University of Essex shows that the color green makes exercise feel easier. Get those Fitbit steps in, am I right

6.Nature is a photographer's paradise.

Natural lighting is great.

7. It's peaceful.

Grab your hammock buddies and find a good place to relax. The lagoon on CSU's campus (above) is the best.

8.We all need a study break.

Research published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology shows that walking increases creative production. So get those creative juices flowing, then back to studying.

9. CSU mascot Cam the Ram is outside. Be like Cam.

Best mascot ever. :P

10.SUNSETS.

Self-explanatory. And amazing.
