On May 30, 2003, Finding Nemo was released into theaters. I had just turned 8 years old. On June 17, 2016, Finding Dory will be in theaters. I have just turned 21 years old. Many people may wonder why on earth a 21-year-old would have such a strong desire to see a movie that was made for 10-year-olds. Here's why people my age are probably more excited than kids are to see Finding Dory:
1. "Finding Nemo" was our childhood.
Quite frankly, it was one of the best animated movies (if not the best) ever released during our childhood. We have every right to be excited- we've waited 8 years for this. And we can get defensive about it.
2. Seeing this movie will bring back ALL THE CHILDHOOD MEMORIES.
Expect many emotions.
3. It's sure to teach us many valuable life lessons, just like "Finding Nemo" did.
I mean, come on. Dory taught us how to speak whale. Crush taught us to always have an exit buddy. Gill taught us that everyone has scars.
4. We're curious about whether we'll see Darla again.
And if so, what her future turned out to be...
5. We know it'll be worth it, even when we're surrounded by swarms of children in the theater.
You may be cute kids, but we will fight you for the best seat. Don't doubt us.
6. The cast.
Phil and Jay from Modern Family, and of course, ELLEN!
7. The music that played in the background during this scene.
Secretly hoping it will be in the sequel. Also, bringing a box of Kleenex.
8. We finally get to meet Dory's parents.
9. We also get to meet these adorable new characters.
LOOK AT THOSE FACES.
10. We get to re-live our childhood.
Even if it's only for a couple of hours, Finding Dory allows us to feel like children again. And that's really what it's all about, and what makes it so special.
