10 Reasons Why Best Friends Are The Greatest

We all love our best friends. They seem to put up with all of our ups and downs (mostly our downs) and they make us feel like we are special no matter what. It goes without saying that our best friends are great, but here are ten reasons why we just cannot live without them.

1. They understand your emotions.

You know when your face twinges a tad bit when you get sad? They do. They practically have every facial expression memorized. The best part? They are completely equipped with how to handle it. Before you can even say that you are upset, they are ready with a blanket and a show on Netflix to binge watch.

2. They always know how to make us laugh.

There is always that stupid joke that no one seems to laugh at, except, of course, for you and your bestie. While everyone else doesn’t seem to understand what is funny, you guys are both doubled over from all of the laughter that fills your stomach.

3. They have your back no matter what.

Gossipers will be gossipers. But your friend knows your character better than anyone else. No matter what they hear, they will always have your back. If someone tries to put you down, your bestie is always there to lift you back up.

4. They are available to you 24/7.

You know who will always pick up the phone at 2 a.m...that’s right: your best friend. No problem is too small or too inconvenient for them. No matter what happens, they will always be there for you, even if it is just as a listening ear. Always.

5. They are practically family.

Maybe they are your emergency contact. Maybe they spend holidays with you. Either way, your best friend has a bond closer to you than with anyone else. They share something with you that most other people don’t even get to see. They are your family.

6. Distance isn't an issue.

It doesn’t matter if you live across the street, or across the country. No boundary is too big for you and your best friend. Besides, that is why we have Skype, Facebook, Instagram, texting, or long distance phone calls. You guys always find a way to make it work.

7. You both get in trouble together.

More often than not, if one gets in trouble, the other was involved in some way. But the best part is, you always tend to find a way to wiggle out of it.

8. You two are a package deal.

You guys don’t go out without each other. Doesn’t matter what the occasion is...you better believe that your best friend is always going to be by your side. Otherwise, it is just boring!

9. You know nothing can replace your best friend.

It doesn’t matter what happens. No one can replace the hilarious, goofy and wild times that come with your best friend. They just can’t be replaced.

10. You will always have someone to rely on.

Enough said.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
