As the first week of October arrives and the weather finally starts to cool down, we are all somehow okay with the fact that summer is ending. We start to settle back into our school lives, finish our first round of midterms, and adjust to the crisp cool weather of fall.
There is a lot to love about fall, but here are just a few that make me smile:
1. As much as you love the beach and sitting poolside with your BFFs, you can’t help but love when the leaves start to change into beautiful orange, purples, and reds.
2. You know you’ll be called basic but you don’t care, you just can’t get enough of pumpkin spice EVERYTHING!
3. All of your favorite TV series start to come back, and you are officially glued to your bed and TV (and probably need to take a shower).
4. Its is now okay to spend the entire day in bed, now that it is officially lower then 60 degrees (59 counts). Your comfy duvet and warm snuggie have been calling your name all day, and you WILL NOT let them down!
5. Even though you will miss your high-waisted shorts and sun dresses, you are excited for the fall fashion—riding boots, knit sweaters, and jean everything!
6. Two words—apple picking! Candy and caramel covered apples, apple cider, and apple pie—you can’t help but love how sweet (literally) it all is.
7. Even though it is only the beginning of October you are ready for all of your favorite Halloween movies—"Twitches," "Halloween Town" 1, 2, 3, & 4, and my personal favorite—"Hocus Pocus!"
8. Halloween. You have a love-hate relationship with it. Picking out three costumes is too stressful and starts to consume your life, but once you pick out your costumes (even if it is on October 31st) you can’t help but get excited to dress up and go out and wow everyone with your squad!
9. The start of fall means the start of the football season. Being a former cheerleader in high school, I can’t help but be a little bit biased. Decked out in your school colors, face painted, you are your happiest when you’re tailgating!
10. Lastly, Thanksgiving! Yes, I know that it is only the beginning of October, but November will be here before you know it! Finally coming home for your first holiday break, you love being back in the company of your family, fitting as much turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes on your plate and letting your family ask you questions like “How is school going?” and “Did you decide on a major yet?” for the first and last time.
Fall has officially arrived, and it is beautiful—don't forget that!
