Whether it's a short-term study abroad program during the summer or a year-long course during the school year, going abroad is something everyone should experience.

1. There is never going to be a better time

You're young and you're not tied down to anything. The best time to go abroad is while you are in school and don't have the pressures of the real world looming over you. Study abroad programs are an awesome way to gain credit while being in a completely new environment. Take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity!

2. You'll be submerged into a new perspective

The best way to understand how other countries differ is to live amongst them. Being in a new environment changes your perspective on your own. Nothing is crazier than seeing how other people from different countries can both be so different and so similar.

3. Connections. Connections. Connections.

The connections you have will expand tremendously when abroad. While abroad many students find internships or job opportunities, while others simply have another reference to add to the resume.

4. Looks great on your resume

The fact that you are willing to move out of your comfort zone says a lot to your future employers. It takes a lot to go abroad; independence, risk taker, and bravery. This experience makes you much more marketable to employers.

5. You'll become more independent

At first, it may be scary to be in a completely new place and feel like an outsider. But within the first two weeks, you'll start being able to navigate around the country and will feel much more comfortable in the environment. It takes a lot of independence to be abroad, you are going there by yourself after all.

6. It's adventurous and exciting

It is no doubt an extremely adventurous thing to do. You're going to learn things you never knew about and see things that may take your breath away. It's a completely new and exciting experience that everyone should take part in.

7.Expand your perspective of your own culture

Seeing other cultures definitely makes you reflect upon your own. It gives you a refreshing new view on yourself and how you were raised. You'll go back home a practically new person.

8. Possibly learn a new language

If you are going to a country that speaks a different language, you'll most likely be required to take a language course there. Besides that, by living in the country, you will begin to naturally pick up the language. Nothing is cooler than being able to have a conversation with locals in their language!

9. You'll make amazing new friends

Everyone studies abroad on a fresh slate. Most people will go in not knowing a single person, so you are not alone. The people you are abroad with will be experiencing the same amazing experience, this is without a doubt going to create an amazing bond.

10. It's unforgettable

Being in a different country is an unforgettable experience that you'll never forget.. You'll be talking about it for the rest of your life. Don't miss out on the awesome opportunity!

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
