Having a short best friend can be very rewarding, especially if you excel in the height department yourself. Here are 10 reasons why having a short best friend is the best.

1. They can maneuver through crowds.

Being a short person in a crowd is a rough place to be, especially if it’s a concert where everyone around you is dancing. Luckily, short people have been gifted with the power to sneak to the front of crowds unnoticed. With your short friend in the lead, they’ll pave the perfect path without drawing too much attention.

2. You can give them hand-me-downs.

Obviously no one loves pulling a shirt out of the dryer to see that it has shrunk two sizes, but you know your friend has been dying to borrow that top. If you can’t wear it anymore, you might as well see your friend rock it.

3. They give great hugs.

If there’s one thing that short friends have mastered, it's the art of a perfect hug. With our arms squeezing tightly around your waist, you’ll never want to let go.

4. They are excellent climbers.

Every day, short people are challenged with many obstacles, including top shelves. We have overcome these hurdles by practicing our climbing skills and jumping abilities. This does not mean that we won’t still ask you to grab something that’s out of reach for us.

5. They're someone to lean on.

We don’t necessarily love being armrests, but we’re here if you need some support. Our height is also perfect for placing your chin on our heads when you need a hug. (Another reason we’re expert huggers!)

6. You get an ego boost.

Enjoy the ego boost of feeling tall in comparison, even if you’re of average height. We don’t discriminate against height down here, in fact, were pretty accepting of all sizes.

7. They have handy hands.

The size and shape of our small hands make retrieving anything between sofa cushions possible. Likewise, we are yet to encounter a necklace we cannot untangle.

8. They make shopping easy.

The great thing about shopping for a short friend is that they fit in multiple sections of the store. Petite, adult, and sometimes children's! These sections tend to be significantly cheaper, so you save your cash while you’re at it.

9. You automatically get shotgun.

It’s no surprise that short people are accustomed to sitting in the back seat. It is almost guaranteed if you are the tall friend in this relationship you will be given shotgun. If not, just complain about the legroom until they eventually switch spots with you.

10. You balance each other out.

You’re not one without the other! If you’re the short person, what you lack in size you make up for in personality. And if you’re the tall friend, you clearly have a big heart to match your height. You don’t know how you would make it through your everyday life without them.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
