10 Reasons Why Dog Moms Should Get Mother's Day Gifts

Moms of the world were celebrated on Mother's Day this year. Fur moms so often get overlooked. I personally think that my sweet pup Ellie is just as much my baby as I'm her mommy. All these and more are reasons why I deserved my new purse and adult coloring book. At least that's what I'll tell myself.

Don't judge me.

1. These precious balls of fluff need our love and protection.

Protect this floof at ALL costs.

2. Middle of the night potty cries are common wake up calls for us too.

"I'm glad you think this is cute mom but for real, I have to PEE."

3. We want our babies to be the smartest of their peers too.

Don't tell me this doesn't impress you. If you do, I'll know you're a liar.

4. We're softies to their pout faces.

I WILL BUY ALL THE LEMONADE YOUR PAWS CAN MAKE

5. Two words: Potty. Training.

Color me severely impressed. I can't even get my dog to understand that her poop is not a toy.. Sigh.

6. Snuggles are the best part of our day.

7. We doubt our parenting decisions.

Ow. So many doubts. Where did she go wrong and how can I make sure I get no where near that?

8. Judgement from the world is real.

"Oh you give your dog THOSE treats? Hmm. Well that's not how I raised my sweet fluffy."

Well, maybe that's why your fluffy secretly hates you!

*We all do it, let's not kid ourselves.*

9. Raising them can be the most frustrating yet amazingly hilarious work at the same time

THE SHAME.

10. But the excitement when our babies see us makes it unquestionably worth it.

*Just a quick disclaimer before the mommies of the internet grab their diaper bags and light their pitchforks. I in no way think that being a dog mom is anywhere near as difficult as being pregnant with, birthing and raising a real live human child. I think that Mother's Day can celebrate any woman who loves, protects, and cares for someone (human or otherwise) more or as often as themselves. My life changed when I got my sweet Ellie. (See My Dog Saved My Life to see her) and I just feel like my dog is my baby. Also, any excuse I have to give my husband to get me that new adult coloring book I want, I’ll take it. Moms of the internet, dog, cat, and otherwise, Happy Mother's Day!*

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
