10 Reasons Chihuahuas Are The Most Underrated Doggos

I learned to love chihuahuas once I got to know one.

Chi-wow-wow! Chihuahuas are fun and loving – what better ingredients for a puppy companion! These are 10 reasons why the Chihuahua breed is underrated.

1. Cuddle monsters.

I love me some cuddles but often with a bigger dog, suffocation or a good pinch or two comes with it. With a chihuahua, they are so itty bitty that you get the best of both worlds. And they love to cuddle. Quite honestly, they are creatures with the body of a dog and the mannerisms of a cat (occasionally the sassy attitude of a cat as well). They burrow into your thigh or hip, or even your shoulder. They like to be close by and show their owner that they are there.

2. Loyalty.

Chihuahuas tend to be one-owner dogs and stay very in-tune with their human. They will love you fur-ever! After the Pulse tragedy, my friend told me that hers never left her side and constantly made skin contact. She could sense my friend's grief and showed support in the most honest and compassionate way an animal can: touch.

3. Little dogs mean little poops.

I don't know about you but I would much rather pick up a chihuahua's dump than a big dog's dump. Fur-tunately they can be trained to use pee-pads! All around they can be such an easier breed to pick up after.

4. Travel size.

Once I was at an airport with a friend who has a Chihuahua. The carrier is small enough that she was able to keep her little girl with her under the seat in front of her. My friend was able to stay in pretty constant interaction with her to comfort her and, of course, her neighbors loved the cutie. Chihuahuas have great pet-tential to be comfortable with travel once they try it a few times!

5. Fabulous fashion.

Sure, their owners may have something to do with it but chihuahuas are famous for their outfits and costumes. These hot dogs are paws-itively fetching. The pup-arrazzi will go wild!

6. Un-spatially aware.

They see a Great Dane and want to be besties because they're the same size, duh. Perhaps it's from their predecessors: the wolves.

7. Relevance in history.

Historical evidence shows a strong devotion and sacred context for small dogs, such as Chihuahuas, particularly amongst Mayans and Aztecs. There are graves that indicate that these dogs accompanied priests to temples and were part of funeral sacrifices. They were believed to guide spirits to the afterlife and even be able to predict the future.

8. Pawesome chihuahua community.

Whether carried in a purse, on a leash, or in an elbow, chihuahua owners attract other chihuahua owners. Immediate friendships are made that way. With fellow fur pup friends we can pawspurr!

9. Furry and funny.

Chihuahuas will constantly make you laugh. They burrow into furniture and make mini-forts in blankets and comforters. Be careful sitting though because any lump in the cover might be your living fur baby. With such a tiny body, their waddle can't help but be adorable. Whether they're cuddling, running, burrowing, or rolling on the floor, they will win "Cutest in the Room" every time.

10. One is never enough.

Just like humans chihuahuas need friends. The more, the merrier!

Fur-well, my furry friends.

Thank you for your appaws. ;)

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
