Boston has many claims to fame, from its rich history to our funky accents. IF you're a Bostonian, some of these will definitely strike a chord with you.

1. It's pretty wicked, and it's wicked pretty.

First and foremost, if you haven’t traveled to Boston, make sure it’s on your bucket list. No matter the season, this city is always pleasing to the eye.

2. It's one of the most historic cities in the country.

For those of you who don’t know, the city of Boston plays a big role in American history. From the 1630s to now, you can thank the city of Boston and it’s founders for making America the way it is.

3. Boston sports over everything

A lot of people hate us. That’s just because they’re jealous we have some of the best sports teams in the nation. If you get the chance, you HAVE to catch a game.

4. The food, especially on the North End

Ever been to the north end? If not, add that to your bucket list too. Mike’s Pastry offers one of the best… scratch that… THE BEST cannoli’s ever. The north end is like a mini Italy and if you’re not one for pasta, don’t worry, many famous restaurants lie on every street corner.

5. Shopping on Newbury Street

If Newbury Street doesn’t have it, then you don’t need it. Save your money because you never know what you might spend.

6. Easy public transportation

If you don’t live directly where the action is, “the T” will be sure to get you there from wherever you are.

7. The Boston Marathon

The Boston Marathon is one of the most famous races in the world. Many international runners spend years training for it and it is such an honor to receive a medal from this rigorous race.

8. Beach getaways

If for some reason you want to get away from the city, beaches are everywhere! For the most part, they are no longer than a 20-minute drive. So suit up and go catch some rays

9. We have amazing hospitals.

Boston is ranked nationally for the best hospitals. If you need medical attention, you will always be in good hands

10. We pretty much have our own language.

Some hate it, some love it. But personally, I think its wicked cool.

If you’re a Masshole, embrace and love it. If not, well… I’m sorry.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
