10 Reasons Why You Should Binge Watch “The Office”

The American version of “The Office” is one of the best shows I have ever watched on Netflix. I mean it’s no “Parks and Rec,” but it really is such a funny and light-hearted series. If I could forget what I saw and re-watch it, I would. Last semester I found the time to balance classwork, activities, and about four Netflix shows. I have my priorities. “The Office” has so many characters that are not only kind, but hilarious in their own way. They tug at your heart making you form a connection with them, especially after devoting your time to all of the episodes. Here are 10 reasons why you should definitely binge watch “The Office.”

1. It has the funniest characters you’ll ever meet.

Michael Scott literally always has something hilarious to say. Nothing he talks about makes sense, but at the same time you can’t help but love him. Sometimes his jokes get a little touchy, but nevertheless he is one of those people whose presence in the room is never easily forgotten.

2. You get to see the cutest relationship ever.

Pam and Jim are seriously relationship goals. Ever since the beginning they have been one of the cutest couples I have ever seen. I really loved seeing their relationship grow as the seasons progressed, so this is definitely an incentive to start watching.

3. It teaches you to have confidence.

If you have ever seen even a small clip of Michael Scott, you know he is one of the most confident men out there. Sometimes he gets a little full of himself, but there really is never a time where he does not believe he is on top.

4. You get to listen to some original raps.

Michael and Dwight are rap gods. Their music is just classic. There aren’t many original raps in this show, but when the time comes for them to be played in the office you are definitely in for a treat.

5. Health tips.

Like Stanley said, if you act positively and think positively, you live longer. At least that’s what his doctor told him.

6. You’ll learn that hard work pays off.

Dwight was probably one of the most hard working employees at Dunder Mifflin. He never gave up his dream of becoming Manager.

7. Kevin.

Kevin is just such a funny person you can’t help but love him. He really doesn’t know what he’s doing…ever, but realistically he matters so much. He’s also very quotable, everything out of his mouth will have you laughing for hours.

8. Mindy Kaling gets to be sassy and over-dramatic.

You really never know what’s going to come out of this girl’s mouth. She is super sassy and funny, but you really can’t help the fact that you will question all of her morals. She sure does know how to get what she wants though.

9. You’ll learn life lessons.

Apparently if you stay away from using full sentences, you’ll save a lot of time.

10. You’ll get so attached to their “office documentary” you will never want it to end.

By the time you finish all of the seasons so many things will have changed. I know it’s only a TV show, but you really form a connection with the characters after getting to know them for so long.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
