10 Reasons Why I'm Glad That It's Baseball Season

As spring rolls around and the weather warms up, it' hard to stay motivated to do homework inside. Fortunately, with baseball season beginning, I know of both an excuse to be outside and a new spot to do homework (or not, your choice). Drum roll please... The baseball stadium.

Here are 10 reasons that I, and many others, are pumped that it’s finally baseball season again.

1. Warm Weather

Getting to be outside in the sunshine watching your school’s team run bases and hit home runs… it can’t get much better than that.

2. Free Entertainment

Whether you care about baseball or not, it’s something different to do. It’s better than being inside doing schoolwork!

3. The Social Aspect

Hanging out with your friends in the squeaky stadium seats is always the way to go.

4. Baseball Boys

The general consensus here is that I don’t need to elaborate on this point.

5. Nostalgia

Ah, sweet high school memories.

6. The Walk Out Songs

Some guys take this part of the game very seriously and work hard to pick the perfect song for their strut up to the plate, but we love it just as much when they add a bit of humor to the mix and go with a throwback song or one that simply just doesn’t fit the occasion.

7. Getting To See Your Friends And Classmates Play

For a small liberal arts school like Wofford, we often know exactly who is out on the field or next at bat. Knowing the players personally makes it that much more entertaining to scream their name at the top of your lungs as they stand ready for the pitch.

8. Your Average Grill-Out

Whether you like hot-dogs, hamburgers, boiled peanuts, or popcorn, sometimes the concessions make the game that much better.

9. Meeting New People

What better way to make friends than while supporting your team?

10. It is Simply America's Pastime.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
