There are two well-known types of people on Valentines Day: those who hate it because they’re single, and those who love it because they have a significant other. However, there is a secret third type of person on Valentines Day: those who love it, but are single. I know they exist because that’s me! I absolutely love Valentine’s Day even though I don’t have someone special to share it with and here’s why.

1. Cheap Candy

Okay, so this may be something all people enjoy, but how great is it to buy giant bags of candy for such low prices? To all you single people out there: this is your day! You have a legit excuse to eat as many Snickers, Milky Ways, Twix’s, and Kit Kats as you want. Do not let a moment like this pass you!

2. Girl's Night Out

All girls know how difficult it can be to round everyone up for a simple night out. Now’s your chance! While you may not be able to include your girlfriends in relationships, all your single friends are probably free. Use this day to catch up, go to the movies, grab some junk food, whatever!

3. Cheesy Romance Movies

Nicholas Sparks here we come. Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to watch the entire list of romance movies you’ve been saving. The best thing is, you have an entire day to watch them all. So load the DVD player with your favorite classic chick-flicks!

4. Cute Gifts

Even though we may not have that special someone to buy us cute Valentine’s Day gifts, we usually have someone that does! Whether it’s a parent, friend, grandparent, sibling, or whatever, someone will likely buy you something sweet. That is one thing to look forward to this holiday!

5. Flowers

Flowers are everywhere around this holiday, and flowers are awesome. Who doesn’t love walking around and breathing in the lovely sent of these beautiful things? Plus, flowers are pretty cheap now, so go out and buy yourself a fresh bouquet to get your room smelling wonderfully.

6. Crafts

You don’t just have to receive gifts this day, but you can give too! Now is a good time to make up some cute crafts for friends or loved ones! Go stock up on jars, canvases, paint, ribbons, stickers, and colored paper. Then get to it!

7. Drink Wine

Most of us are adults now, so we can finally appreciate the delicacy of wine. This is the perfect day to start experimenting with the different types of it. Many newly legal drinkers are inexperienced with different wines, so it is very fitting to go wine tasting so you can find your new favorite kind!

8. Save Money

The absolute best part about being single on Valentine’s Day is the fact that we get to save so much money. And I mean a ton of money. Think of the dozen roses, boxes of chocolate, cards, stuffed animals, dinners, movies, etc. that couples need to purchase. A dozen roses alone are probably around $40! Our wallets will definitely be thanking us after this expensive day.

9. Treat Yo Self

As annoying as this phrase can be, it’s quite applicable to Valentine’s Day. There are so many wonderful things you can do for yourself on this day. After all, it’s about love, isn’t it? Why not love yourself! Go to the spa, buy that dessert, or go out! Do something to simply enjoy yourself.

10. It's About Love

Valentine’s Day is the only day of the year that is solely about love. Instead of hating on it, let’s try appreciating it. Spread the love, the happiness, and the positive vibes to anyone and everyone this holiday. Instead of making it a bitter holiday because we may not have someone special, let’s make it lovely!

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.
