After what seems like years, GREY'S IS BACK!!!
It's been a long ride these past thirteen seasons, but Shonda Rhimes keeps us all strung along with every episode and all I can say is that after this one.. I need to see more. Here are some highlights of the premiere in case you missed it.
The episode picked up right where the previous season had left off, at Owen and Amelia's Wedding. While they are happily dancing their wedding night away, DeLuca is being brought into the hospital with Alex by his side...?!? In case you forgot Alex is the reason why DeLuca is there...
This comes AFTER Jo revealed to DeLuca that the reason she won't marry Alex is because she is already married.. again W H A T??! (No we don't find out ANYTHING more about that on this episode. Fingers crossed for the rest of the season). Alex falsely assumed that DeLuca was up to no good when he came home to find him with a drunken Jo, but as we all known DeLuca is a pretty decent guy.
Meanwhile, Webber is comforting Jo giving her some of the best advice on the show: "With a little coffee and a little sunlight, your troubles will get smaller and the world will keep standing"
How precious.
Back at the hospital, the doctors are still trying to piece together what exactly happened to DeLuca while he is in no shape to say for himself. Alex is fully aware that his entire career is at stake now and is desperately trying to figure out a way to fix this. Meredith of course figures it out and comforts him right away, even encouraging him to lie about his obviously bruised and bloody hand. Like we didn't see that one coming. We all know the originals stick together.
In the middle of all this, Jo ends up at the hospital to check on DeLuca and ends up running into Alex of course. They get into a huge fight where Alex basically tells Jo that she is not the marrying type anyways.. ouch.
Eventually, Alex finds out from Mere who finds out from Stephanie, who talked to Jo that DeLuca wasn't trying to hurt her. They decide that they have to tell Bailey and the police before things get any worse. Alex still seems to think that simply talking to DeLuca will resolve the issues, and of course he is wrong about that too. Once DeLuca comes to and sees Alex he immediately goes into a panic calling for help.
Meredith ends up going to Bailey and confessing all she knows about this situation despite her strong desire not to, only to find that Alex turned himself in. Yes you read that right, Alex is now in jail.
Alex may not have started out on the show as the most likeable guy, but I've been rooting for him lately and this was hard to watch. Mere even says that "I know both of those people are still in there. I just wanna make sure the right one wins".
While this whole drama is escalating, April is recovering from the birth of her child. In case you missed it in the last episode Ben helped April give birth in Meredith's house. As she is recovering, Catherine Avery appears to help take care of the child while April is sleeping. April reveals that they have named their little girl Harriet Kepner-Avery; choosing Harriet because it is strong.
All of the April-baby scenes have me hoping for a Japril reunion (Jackson and April, for those of you who haven't caught up).
Ahhhhhh the feels!!!
Speaking of feels, Riggs attempts to get closer to Meredith failing every single time. I mean who can blame her he is most definitely not McDreamy. Surprisingly that's not the reason she keeps pushing him away. Maggie, her half-sister, has feelings for him and Meredith doesn't want to see her get hurt for now. I think they will end up together somehow.
The episode ended with Alex being locked away in a jail cell and Meredith coming to visit leaving us with this quote, "The past is written. There’s no changing it. What’s done is done. But, the future is ours to choose for better or worse".
A lot of people are starting to think that this could be the start of Alex leaving the show.. which has sent fans into a frenzy. Surely Shonda Rhimes won't put us through that. Not this soon.
Don't miss out on Season 13! Grey's comes on Thursday's 8/7c!
