10 Quotes To Remind You Of The Woman You Really Are
Ivana Petrovic

Me being me, I’m obsessed with quotes. They are all over my room, phone, and notebooks. It’s nice to find words that help you explain how you feel or how you wish to feel. Here are ten of my favorite quotes that make me feel like that woman we all want to be.

“She was the captain of her own soul.” –William Faulkner

There’s nothing more important than leading your own life. Your life is in your hands, not your parents, not your teachers, not your friends, yours. You have every power in the world to lead your soul wherever you chose. So, chose wisely, captain.

“Some women are lost in the fire. Some women are built from it.”

Life’s going to get in the way. People are going to disappoint you. You will lay awake some nights crying your eyes out because nothing is going your way. My biggest piece of advice, use all your pain to fuel who you want to become. Everything happens for a reason, find that reason.

“She believed she could, so she did.”

One of my personal favorites. It’s all up to you. If you don’t believe in yourself, then who is going to? People are not going to baby you the older you get, they have themselves to worry about. Get up, believe in yourself, and do it.

“The woman who doesn’t need validation from anyone is the most feared individual on the planet.” – Mohadesa Najumi

Think about that one time you decided to ignore the people who hated you, and they started to hate you even more because they realized you didn’t need their approval to be who you wanted to be. You don’t need validation from anyone; you are your own person, with your own goals and dreams. Become the most feared individual and you will go far.

“Pour yourself a drink, put on some lipstick, and pull yourself together.” –Elizabeth Taylor

There’s no better cure to a bad day than a glass of wine and some lipstick. The more put together people think you are, the more put together you’ll probably become.

“A girl doesn’t need anyone who doesn’t need her.” –Marilyn Monroe

This is a fact. If he doesn’t treat you how you should and deserve to be treated, kick him to the curb ASAP. You don’t have time to waste on someone who doesn’t need you.

“I am too full of life to be half loved.”

I was in a rough spot with some friends when I came across this one. It forced me to think, I have so much to offer for someone who won’t fully love me. This made a difference in how I proceed with my friendships.

“I do not need your approval darling, that’s for insecure people.”

Honestly, the second I hear someone telling me I’m not good enough, or I think I’m going to be successful but I won’t, I laugh. Because clearly they aren’t in my life for a reason so I don’t need their approval for anything.

“Be with someone who ruins your lipstick-not your mascara.”

Lipstick and mascara are expensive. And we all know that water-proof mascara is way too expensive and doesn’t really work and you look like a hot mess if you cry and mascara is all over your cheeks. So, if he’s going to ruin something expensive, make it the one that easier to clean up.

“I figure, if a girl wants to be a legend, she should go ahead and be one.”-Calamity Jane

Go be a legend. Set some goals and destroy them, it’s all up to you.

Don't forget, you are a strong and independent woman, love yourself first and everything else will fall into place.

xoxo

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.
