10 Quotes for When You Are Feeling Low
Katie Farrell

Everyone on the face of the planet knows how it feels to have a bad day. That one day can turn into two, those two into a week, and that week into a month. It is a part of life. However, there are ways to combat that lowness.

I spent the last week feeling pretty crappy about life and the things that I was doing. I was continuously asking myself why I even bothered to do all of the things I was doing because there was no point. People were not listening, they were not responding, and I felt alone. It is a pretty bad feeling, that of being alone.

All of that being said, I mentioned above that there are ways to combat that lowness no matter what is causing it. I did some research and found 10 quotes that I think are really important to keep in mind when you are going through a challenge. Whether it is school, extra curricular activities, friends and family, whatever it may be. I hope these quotes remind you that you should keep going.

1. "When you are going through hell, keep on going. Never, never, never give up." -Winston Churchill.

2. "Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires courage." -Ralph Waldo Emerson

3. "There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it." -Edith Wharton

4. "It is never too late to be what you might have been." -George Eliot

5. "Things don't go wrong and break your heart so you can become bitter and give up. They happen to break you down and build you up so you can be all that you were intended to be." -Charlie Jones

6. "When you feel like giving up, remember why you held on for so long in the first place." -Unknown

7. "No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world." -Robin Williams

8. "Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree." -Martin Luther

9. "When it is all finished you will see it was never random. In the meantime, have faith all is happening for a reason. Look for the lesson, the gift, the bridge you are to take to get yourself to where you need to be." -Karen Salmansohn

10. "Courage is not having the strength to go on; it is going on when you don't have the strength." -Theodore Roosevelt

If you are like me and find yourself having a hard time keeping up hope and not giving up, give some of these a read. You will find that it is OK to not be strong all the time, but that you should try to keep going.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
