10 Quotes To Think About Next Time It Rains

My type B introverts probably don't need any convincing that rainy days are welcome blessings. Rain is white noise while you read, a predictable show to watch through the window, and an excuse to stay indoors wrapped in a blanket. A cold blue rainstorm perfectly contrasts the warm orange glow of a desk lamp or a fire, making couches and beds more comfortable than they were before. Not to mention that soft grey selfie lighting!

Every time it rains, people seem to get so sad. That part kind of sucks. So, allow me to bring a little peace to your rainy day with these quotes.

"Rain is grace; rain is the sky descending to the earth; without rain, there would be no life."

- John Updike

"The richness of the rain made me feel safe and protected; I have always considered the rain to be healing—a blanket—the comfort of a friend."

- Douglas Coupland

"'Valentine Weather'
Kiss me with rain on your eyelashes,
come on, let us sway together,
under the trees, and to hell with thunder."

- Edwin Morgan, A Book Of Lives

"From where we stand the rain seems random. If we could stand somewhere else, we would see the order in it."

- Tony Hillerman

"Look at the rain long enough, with no thoughts in your head, and you gradually feel your body falling loose, shaking free of the world of reality. Rain has the power to hypnotize."

- Haruki Murakami, South of the Border, West of the Sun

"Never dance in a puddle when there's a hole in your shoe (it's always best to take your shoes off first)."

- John D. Rhodes

"Raindrops are the perfect lullaby"

"When life throws you a rainy day, play in the puddles!"

"Rain showers my spirit and waters my soul."

"Let there be Sunshine, let there be rain, let the broken-hearted love again."

- Bruce Springsteen

Ah, rain. If you're not convinced yet, just blast "Umbrella" by Rihanna and you should be yanked to our side by the nostalgia.

The beautiful thing about rain, if I may get philosophical for a moment, is that it reminds us to let go. Let go of outdoor plans, let go of control, and let things be as they are. It reminds us that nature is beyond our control, and the best thing to do is not just accept it, but enjoy it.

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
