She Knows

The holidays can be hard if you're trying to avoid anything with dairy in it. Whether you are lactose intolerant, or simply don't like dairy, it's impossible to walk into the average grocery store and find a non-dairy cake or non-dairy holiday treat. Listed below are some amazing replacements that will cure your sweet tooth during parties, or when you want to spend a night in watching Christmas movies.

1. Califia Farms Holiday Drinks

From their famous almond milk Pumpkin Spice cold brew to their more Christmas-oriented line of peppermint mocha and egg nog, Califia Farms special cold brew drinks provide vegan-friendly holiday drinks for an affordable price.

2. Larabars

Snicker-doodle, pumpkin pie, and gingerbread. Larabars are a little on the pricy side, a little higher than the average energy bar, but they are completely worth it if you need breakfast on-the-go and want to avoid dairy. On top of being dairy free, they come in a variety of flavors and even have limited edition holiday flavors.

3. Starbucks Peppermint Hot Chocolate Packets

Did you know that the base of the Starbucks hot chocolate is 100% dairy free? It's hard to find a hot chocolate that doesn't have dairy in the powder, but the Starbucks individual chocolate powder packets and the Starbucks hot chocolate is completely dairy free, as long as you have it with soy or almond milk.

4. So Delicious Coco Whip

The holidays can be hard with pies and cakes, and most of them are likely to have dairy. It can be weird to bring your own food to a party, but there aren't many options when most people consume dairy products and won't be having a lactose-free party. While everyone else is eating pies and cakes that you can't eat, you'll be able to fulfill your sugar tooth with the "So Delicious Coco Whip". Even if you don't bring it to a holiday party, it's just a good dairy free dessert to have in the fridge.

5. Miyoko Vegan Cheese

The hardest thing to give up during the holiday season, when going dairy free, is giving up cheese. However, you don't have to give it up completely. There are vegan cheeses that taste completely awful and aren't worth the money, but Miyoko's vegan cheese is the perfect replacement for regular cheese and has a special taste about it that makes it unique from cheese.

6. Ben & Jerry's Non-Dairy Chocolate Fudge Brownie

7. Candy Cane Oreos

All Oreo's are dairy free. I repeat: Oreo's do not have any dairy in them.

8. Dark Chocolate Peppermint Pretzels

With a little bit of Lindt dark chocolate cocoa bars at 70%, 85%, or 90%, any lactose intolerant person can easily make a fun winter treat that no one will object to crunching on. All you need is some Lindt dark chocolate, which is gaurenteed vegan, a bowls worth of crushed candy canes, and a bag of pretzels. Simply melt the dark chocolate in the microwave or on the stove, dip the pretzels in the melted dark chocolate, and cover it in crushed candy canes. Simple, yummy, and lactose free.

9. Pacifica Foods Butternut Squash Soup

10. Pillsbury Holiday Sugar Cookies

Did you know that a lot of Pillsbury products contain no milk in them? Though they are not entirely vegan because they contain eggs, they are the easiest way to feed that holiday sweet tooth in less than twenty minutes without feeling the stomach pain later on. It's a classic childhood holiday treat that you don't have to sacrifice.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
