This could be your first or even last Halloween in college and you are probably still thinking about a clever costume to rack up all the attention. Unfortunately, Halloween in college is no longer a single night of overloading on cavities, but a weekend full of festivities and fun (if you are not bombarded with midterms the week after). And the treat has now become deciding what you are going to dress up each one of those nights. Whether you are going solo or engage in a group costume, you are not completely out of luck. Believe it or not, there are some great, clever and comfortable DIY costumes you can wear that will totally be insta-worthy. In the end, one of the best parts of Halloween in college is showing off your costume to the world.

That said, here is a list of budget-friendly, simple, and awesome costumes you can consider leading up to this weekend.

1. Tourist(s)

This is a perfect, last minute costume. Just throw on a Hawaiian shirt with flowers around your neck, a floppy hat, and sunglasses and you got yourself a great Halloween look. Plus, it will be very comfortable and all these props can be found at Walmart for a quite affordable price.

2. Shark Week

This is personally one of my favorites. If I had a group of 6 others, I would have definitely done this. It is clever, funny, and completely DIY. You can purchase an oversized, light blue t-shirt, fake blood, and fabric markers from Walmart to make the shirts. And for the shark hats, you can easily create these out of construction paper or felt. Let's be real, who doesn't love Shark Week?!

3. Flapper/Dapper

This is a perfect costume for you and your other half, or even between friends. This 1920s look is really cute, trendy, and has several variations.

4. Emojis

You can never go wrong with dressing up as an emoji! You can either do it yourself, or with friends. Plus, if you put it side to side with the real deal, and you got yourself the perfect Halloween Insta post!

5. Average Joes or Purple Cobras (from Dodgeball)

This is a cute look to do with friends. It is definitely comfortable, easy to put together, and looks great as a whole. You can even go buy a yellow t-shirt, and modify the costume yourself!

6. Fruits

This is also one of my favorite costumes! This is completely DIY, and everything you need can easily be found at Walmart!

7. Rosie the Riveter

This can be overplayed, but it still does for a simple, cute, and easy to put together costume.

8. Aliens

You can do this look with or without friends, and it still looks amazing. What girl doesn't love dressing her face up with metallic makeup and jewels? Plus, the galaxy look can have so many different variations to it.

9. A Pun (you can get creative with this one)

This is hilarious, and speaks for itself. You can expect to have one of the best costumes with this look. However, this might be tough to move around in, depending on which props you are using. There are several other puns to choose from, just please do not do the typical "Netflix and Chill" one.

10. Harry Potter and Hermoine

This a great last minute costume to do with a friend. Everyone loves Harry Potter!!!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
