10 Questions College Students Absolutely Don't Want To Answer This Holiday Season
Country Living

If you are a young adult away at college I'm sure you are looking forward to going home for Thanksgiving break. You probably are eager to spend time with your family and friends and bring in the holiday season with open arms. It is a time to be thankful for all of your blessings and share a meal surrounded by those you love. However, big family dinners aren't always 100 percent enjoyable. Since you have been away for a few months, your family probably wants to catch up with you. You will be asked numerous questions. Some may be easy and nice...however we all have those relatives that hit you where it hurts. Here are 10 questions that college students DO NOT want to answer at holiday gatherings this season:

1. How are your classes going? Have you made it to all of them?

I'm drowning in papers and exams, but yeah no it's great. I'm totally fine. I never skip class! (I actually haven't been to one of them in over a month, but you don't need to know that).

2. How is your GPA looking?

I think I'm passing all my classes, so can't look too bad right?

3. Did you get a job yet?

I've been working on it, but I will still be accepting your cards with money every month and your weekly additions to my bank account. Thank you.

4. Have you been spending your money wisely?

Of course! I never need retail therapy and cash out at the mall, what are you talking about?

5. Do you have a boyfriend or girlfriend?

Its a touchy subject Aunt Kate...let's not talk about it.

6. Actually, anything to do with your love life at all.

7. Have you been eating healthy?

If by healthy you mean drinking water with my chicken fingers and fries everyday instead of cherry coke...then yes, sometimes I'm pretty healthy.

8. What do you intend to do with that major?

When I figure out my life I'll be sure to inform you, I promise.

9. What have you been up to lately? Have you been keeping out of trouble?

No I do not party every day of my life. However, yes I do like to go out and have fun with my friends on the weekend to relieve some stress....sue me.

10. What are your plans for the summer?

Can't I just eat my pumpkin pie without having to plan out my whole future? Geez.

Although we all love our families, college students just want a break from our everyday stressful lives during this time. Let us shove our faces with home-cooked food and not have to worry about what exam we have the following Monday. Ask us about our experiences and if we have any good stories to tell, instead of our grades and if we have an internship this summer. I promise you if you do so we will be much easier to deal with. :)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

28 Daily Thoughts of College Students

"I want to thank Google, Wikipedia, and whoever else invented copy and paste. Thank you."

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
