10 Questions Every College Student Gets Asked
Quotesgram

Every year, those of us lucky enough to have the title of college student get asked the same questions over and over and over again. Summer breaks, winter breaks, random trips home or even to the hairdresser.

1. What year are you?

Not an awful question, though the second you get asked it, you know that more of the following questions are coming.

2. Where do you go?

Insert school here. And if it's a small school, be prepared to explain where it is. If you're at home, also be prepared to state how far away your school is.

3. What's your major?

Always a good time when you start getting down to the nitty gritty, especially if you have to explain what your major is because no one knows. Cue up question number 4...

4. What are you going to do with that?

If you don't have a plan for what you're going to do after college, you better have an answer ready because everyone wants to know. You can feel the aura of judgement when they tell you "Oh, you'll figure it out."

5. Where are you living?

When you answer your dorm building or the area you are living, you might as well be speaking Chinese. They've never seen campus, they probably have never been in the area, so you just answer in a dorm, an apartment, a house, etc.

6. Do you have any roommates?

They are never going to meet them, so you never know how to explain them, but you do your best, or you can be lucky and not have any to avoid the question all together.

7. Do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend?

This question is the worst because in today's world, college relationship titles are more complicated than that math course you got a C in. If the answer is yes, congrats for you, those of us who don't have a significant other are just reminded of our singleness.

8. How's your schedule this year?

Do you want to know all my classes or how early I get up? You don't usually want to go into detail, so you just either say it's good or alright.

9. Are you excited to go back?

Well, in the middle of this conversation right now, yes. But most of the time you are always excited to go back to school because that is where your friends are and the fun is. Just don't think about the exams right now.

10. Do you like it at school?

Well, do I like having to go to class most of the time? Not really, but if you made the right school choice, you don't just like it at school, you love it!

No matter how annoying these questions are over the years of your college education, cherish them while it lasts because college won't last forever.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week.
