The internet has been blowing up with fresh new memes featuring Primitive Sponge, one of the prehistoric ancestors of "SpongeBob SquarePants." He was introduced in a 1999 "SpongeBob SquarePants" episode titled "SB-129". He lived 546 million years ago in the Cambrian Era, but now, thanks to the kings and queens of memes, he has resurfaced again in 2016.

Fun fact: he is often called SpongeGar in reference to another one of SpongeBob's ancestors; however, that is incorrect. SpongeGar comes after Primitive Sponge and is shown to be more intelligent and advanced.

Primitive Sponge is the latest SpongeBob meme that has been sweeping through social media, gaining as much attention as the Mr. Krabs blur meme. There's been some confusion about how Primitive Sponge differs from the Mr. Krabs blur meme. Primitive Sponge is used when applied to a situation of sudden panic. He is a startling "Oh my gosh!" while Mr. Krabs is more of a confused "What?"

Primitive Sponge has been edited into pictures to create relatable and hilarious reactions to everyday situations.

Here are ten relatable Primitive Sponge memes:

1. When you let yourself sleep for five more minutes, but wake up five hours later.

2. When you're home alone, watching horror movies, and hear a noise in the other room.

3. When you go to kill a spider and it disappears.

4. When you hear your bedroom door open after your mom told you 100 times to clean your room.

5. When you're speeding down the highway and pass by a cop.

6. When you're the only one in your class who did the homework.

7. You and your best friend when the teacher says "pick a partner."

8. When you graduate, but you don't know what to do with your life now.

9. When your calculator dies during the math exam.

10. When Donald Trump wins the 2016 presidential election.

If you want to see more Primitive Sponge memes or add some to your personal collection of memes, there are plenty more found under the incorrect tag "SpongeGar."

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way.
