January 21, 2017 will go down as one of the most important days in history.

On January 21, 2017, women and men around the world marched in support of women's rights after the inauguration of Donald Trump. The march took place much to the dismay of many republicans around the world, including Tomi Lahren, a known anti-feminist who clearly does not understand the idea of feminism. Millions of men and women around the world took place in marches that occurred in places such as St. Louis, Boston, New York, Los Angeles, and the big one being the March on Washington. These marches made a statement. A statement that the unfair and unequal treatment of women, minorities, the LGBTQ+ community, and many others would no longer be tolerated. To the men and women who participated in these marches, thank you for standing up for what you believe in and being role models to the future of our country, the children who will grow up and continue these values you are working so hard to put in place.

As a proud feminist, these marches meant a lot to me, and the fact that they grew this big and made this much of an impact makes me even more proud to be a feminist. We still have a lot of work to do, but the marches showed that we are strong, and that we won't let a racist, misogynistic man and his homophobic vice president tell us how to live our lives and control us. The march that occurred in Washington D.C. brought in over 1.2 million people, well over the number of people who attended the inauguration. The photos featured in this article are from the March in D.C. and are some that I find to be powerful and send a true message.

Never stop fighting for what you believe in and never forget that there is power in numbers.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
