10 Posts That Show What It Is Like To Be A One Direction Fan

Face it: it is not easy being a fan of your favorite. On the surface, it would seem like it, but in reality, it is a lot of work trying to be dedicated to them and maintain a normal life at the same time.

One Direction fans have it hard at the moment. With all four boys taking a very well deserved hiatus, things in the One Direction fandom have been quite slow. Of course, high quality paparazzi pictures reach Twitter and Tumblr, but is it really enough to get through the day?

Being a fan of One Direction also means tears. However, a good Tumblr post seems to sum up what it is like being highly dedicated to these four boys, and here are some that prove it.

1.

This is, without a doubt, highly accurate, especially with all of the drama that has been surrounding these boys lately. From Louis becoming a dad to Liam signing a solo deal, the One Direction members have been trying to keep busy while on their hiatus. However, that does not mean that fans will not keep themselves from worrying in the slightest or hyping things up. So, yes, One Direction does cause high blood pressure.

2.

Even though the boys may be lacking with activity, there is no leaving the One Direction fandom. Once you are in, you cannot leave. Do not even try to find a way out, because something will always pull you back in. Most fans will not part ways with the boys during this hiatus, and they are the strong ones.

3.

It is really heartbreaking that someone would not find an interest in going to Liam's 16th birthday party. Did they not realize how amazing he is? They probably did not, but that does not matter now. Liam gets to sing for millions of people that love and support him. If anyone, besides his family and bandmates, appreciates him a lot, it is the fandom.

4.

Harry is everyone's best friend. When he is on stage, he makes you feel welcomed, and if you meet him on the streets, it is like you are visiting with a friend. He is so warm and nice, so it is no wonder that One Direction fans feel so close to him, even when they do not personally know him.

5.

Is it any secret that Niall is so charming? He is so caring, hilarious, and outgoing, that the only person who would be able to compare to him, is, well, himself. It sounds crazy, but think about it: putting up with this boy would probably take some effort. He is the best at remembering names and faces, speaking out about his beliefs, and making sure someone is having a good time. Who else would be able to do all of those and more?

6.

Once upon a time, every member of the One Direction fandom had a life like this. Louis is basically the sun in the solar system of the fandom, so it would not be difficult for your life to begin to revolve around him. Plus, he is beautiful, so it is perfectly okay.

7.

How much does it cost to become a One Direction fan? A lot. You give up your time, your patience, your health, and basically your whole life. It sounds extreme, but would you not do anything to support and show love for you favorite band?

8.

Do people not realize who One Direction fans are? Of course they heard about that thing they did. Why ask?

9.

Does a guy's music preference really make or break his masculinity? Chill out. Grab a copy of "Made In the A.M." (available now on iTunes) and listen to it. If you like it, cool. A lot of people like One Direction. I can promise that trying to "act cool" or "be tough" will not make anyone stop liking this band, especially when you try to degrade them. Show some respect. One Direction has earned it.

10.

Okay, so a lot of fans will say that One Direction ruined their life and that they never sleep because of them, but that is not entirely true. Their lives are better. There are countless stories on the internet from people who say that One Direction saved their life, and that is a beautiful thing. So, becoming a fan of these boys is not so bad. It is the greatest thing to happen to some people.

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
