10 Poems To Celebrate National Poetry Month

Many people go through life unaware that April is National Poetry Month. As someone that has been writing poetry since the seventh grade, poetry has made a great difference in my life. Poetry is a way for me to express inner turmoil: positive or negative. Everyone has different interests, but in order to celebrate National Poetry Month and bring reverence to some exceptional poets, I have decided to share 10 of my favorite poems with you, in no particular order.

1. "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening," Robert Frost.

2. "For Annie," Edgar Allan Poe.

3. "Lady Lazarus," Sylvia Plath.

4. "Alone," Edgar Allan Poe.

5. "Old Ladies By the Sea," Pablo Neruda.

6. "Sonnet 73," William Shakespeare.

7. "Dirty Face," Shel Silverstein.

8. "Dover Beach," Matthew Arnold.

9. "Much Madness is Divinest Sense," Emily Dickinson.

10. "Dark Friend, What Can I Say?," Mirabai.

Evidently, there are so many other exquisite poems and poets that should be celebrated this month. I encourage everyone to take the time and explore poetry this month and maybe even write some of your own. If you would be interested in reading some of my personal work, you can explore here.

If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
