I know having a plant in your apartment/dorm seems pointless, but there are actually heath benefits to caring for your own mini-garden. They decrease dust, help with air circulation, negate cigarette smoke, decrease carbon dioxide, act as natural humidifiers, and even relieve depression and anxiety.
Saying this, only certain plants are hardy enough to survive college life...
1. Cacti
Just don't touch the spiky part...

3. African Violets
This plant needs a bit of light, so make sure you have a place in mind before committing.

4. Azaleas
Unlike Iggy Azalea, these flowers do not appropriate black culture nor do they rap incoherent babbling.

5. Peace Lilies
These plants are sometimes placed in bowls with betta fish. Super cool.

6. Snake Plants
This plant is so hard to kill it's nicknamed "the perfect bachelor plant."

9. Asparagus Ferns
These plants can grow HUGE if they are not kept under control in a lil' mini-pot.

10. Avocado Trees
These are my favorite because they are super easy, and if you do not want to have a huge tree, you can easily plant your pit and keep trimming. I am currently growing an avocado tree, his name is Ned (pictured below).
