10 Places You Want To Eat At In Carrollton
City of Carrollton

There are certain restaurants in Carrollton, Georgia, that you just must eat at while you're here! All of these restaurants are locally owned and are sure to bring you a different experience than you've ever had before!

Corner Cafe

This gem hidden in Downtown Carrollton is one of the first places I ate at when I came to town. Over and over again, all I heard was the students older than me talking about "The Corner." Whether you're in the mood for "Rosemary's Baby Daddy," the "Jellyfish," or just the "Corner Club," Corner Cafe will never fail your taste buds. All of their sandwiches are amazing- not to mention their bagel chips with their spinach artichoke dip.

Highland Deli

Literally, right across the street from Corner Cafe, sits another incredible sandwich spot! "The Nathanael," is the only sandwich that I've had from here...and it's so good that I don't need any other sandwiches! They also have so many different soups that they change every day. I've never heard of anyone having a bad sandwich or experience here. The restaurant itself is really small, so you'll want to come early to get a good seat!

Irish Bred Pub

We could talk about Tuesday & Thursday nights at The Pub, but seriously, their food is really good. From their wings to their burgers to their sandwiches, you can almost never go wrong. I've been told that their Shepherd's Pie is really good, keeping in touch with that Irish flare.

The Lazy Donkey

Okay, so there are 1,000+ Mexican Restaurants in Carrollton. They're really all just about the same, but only one has a big donkey in front of it. The name alone makes The Lazy Donkey worth going to. Their food is actually pretty good, too! They are noted as the "most authentic" Mexican place in town, so they have that going for them too. Also, if you're of age, try out their "Margarita Bucket." You'll leave with a pretty cool souvenir.

Kobe Japanese Steakhouse

It ultimately comes down to Kobe vs. Osaka for the "best hibachi in your face" battle. Personally, I've never had a good experience at Osaka. I've heard it's good from some people...but I've just never been impressed. On the other hand, I've had nothing but great experiences at Kobe! Their chefs are entertaining and funny, as well as really good at their craft. Their Yum-Yum sauce is the best I've ever had.

American Pie Pizzeria

Lunch buffet at American Pie? Yes, please! This is by far my favorite lunch spot in Carrollton. Their handmade pizza's are very, very, very good! The size of the buffet is pretty small, but if you want something specifically up there- just ask! They also offer a really good student discount, making the value even better than it already is!

The Little Hawaiian

This one isn't visited as frequently, as it is the most expensive place on this list. However, if you're in the mood for something different or something really fresh, the Little Hawaiian is the place for you! Fresh seafood, Hawaiian style dinners, steaks, and so much more!

M&J- Home Cooking Country Buffet

M&J is the place that you look at over and over because it sounds good, but the outside looks awful. So, yes, it took me awhile to finally come eat here. Just like the outside, the inside is nothing to write home about...but that food...yes! They are exactly what they say they are, a buffet full of good home cooking. You have your friend chicken, country fried steak, fried green tomatoes, as well as every vegetable and type of bread you can imagine.

Jerry's Country Kitchen

If you want a good breakfast in Carrollton, skip Waffle House, skip IHOP, and skip all those fast food places. You better get your butt to Jerry's Country Kitchen. Where else can you get a huge "Biskit," with "Bakon," and two "Aigs?"

Johnny's Sammy's Midnite Grill

This one is strictly for 3AM meals. It's not quite as popular as it once was, but this used to be THE place to get late night wings for UWG. Formally, Johnny's, Sammy that owns the Chevron- yes, the Sammy that we love, has bought out that business. He's keeping everything the same, meaning we can call in- get our little bitty wings and seasoned fries late into the night.

BONUS: *NEW* Klucked Up Cafe

Peter, the Owner/Operator of Klucked Up, has it going on! From their absolutely monster sized wings to their huge tenders, Klucked Up has plenty of food to make you full. They also have a large variety of sauces, which you can try before eating, for your wings or tenders! Peter makes sure that everyone that walks in the door loves their experience.

This list is missing a few places, that's for sure! Make sure to list your favorite places below and let me know where you like to eat in Carrollton! There's so many options in "The City of Dreams," so don't miss out!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
